“By trying to improve our everyday life with new products and technologies, we are in fact
causing more harm than good”. What do you think of this statement? Justify.

Humanity has long questioned its relationship with nature. We innovate to improve our way
of life, and consequently, we are the primary actors in the changes occurring on our planet.
Our actions have consequences, and some are negative. However, the world is not static, and
it will change whether we innovate or not. Arguing that we cause more harm than good is
nonsensical because the world is not governed by a framework of what is right or wrong, it is
a purely human perspective. We can attempt to influence the consequences of our activities
by setting rules that align with the values of our society and aim to minimize direct or indirect
harm to humans. However, we must strictly differentiate ideology and real, tangible impacts
on people's health and lives. For example, the intensive use of fossil fuels has led to rising sea
levels and rapid climate change, these are observations. The negative effects include
population displacement, the spread of pollution-related diseases, and increased difficulty in
food cultivation. While oil has facilitated significant advancements, we can now address its
harmful effects through new innovations and political decisions. Generally, we do not cause
more harm than good, but we must make necessary decisions to limit negative consequences
when needed.
