1 INTRODUCTION
The ACAMS product is a computer system providing an integrated and homogenous solution to the
basic monitoring and control requirements of an airport tower.
The ACAMS product is designed around a fault tolerant and modular architecture which can be scaled
to suit the functional and capacity requirements of any civil or military tower. The functions included at
São Paulo, Guarulhos International Airport Tower are:
Airfield Lighting Control
Meteorological Information Display
Navigation Aids Status Monitoring
Document Viewer
Time Synchronization and Display
Tower Cabin Internal Light
Sunshade Control
Video Surveillance
Entrance Control
Notice Board
Automatic Conference/Crash Alarm
ATIS
Electronic Flight Strips (TATIC)
Technical Monitoring
2 SYSTEM ARCHITECTURE
Each operational position is equipped with 2 touch screen displays and one common keyboard and
mouse to manage all the applications available at the position. The TCMS position is equipped with 1
touch screen display running TCMS application only.
The touch screen monitors of the operational positions are distributed in the consoles according to the
operational specifications for each airport.
The system block diagram is shown below:
3 HARDWARE PLATFORM
3.1.1 Specification
The network consists of the following components:
Four managed network switches located in the central equipment rack.
The network switches HP/Aruba Procurve 2530-24G have 24 RJ-45 10/100/1000 ports and four small
form-factor pluggable (SFP) slots for fiber connectivity.
The switches include comprehensive management functionality including QoS (Quality of Service) and
Bandwidth Management features allowing the network performance to be optimized.
3.1.2 Description
The HP switch is composed of:
Console ports: For switch configuration
Ethernet ports: For network connection
SFP ports: Small Form-factor Pluggable
Power Connector: For Switch power
3.1.3 Configuration
To configure the name and IP address of the switch, PuTTY is used as a terminal emulator. To install
PuTTY, double click on “putty-64bit-0.71-installer.msi”.
Click “Next”.
Click “Next”.
Click “Install”.
Click “Finish”.
First, connect the console cable between the maintenance laptop serial port and switch console port,
then start PuTTY.
Enter the command hostname “ACAMSSBGRSW1” and press “Enter”. The spare switch name
depends on the faulty switch.
The spare switch IP address depends on the faulty switch. Refer to chapter 6 Network Configuration.
Enter the command write memory and press “Enter” to save the configuration.
To check if the configuration is correct, open a web browser and enter the switch IP address.
The following tables show the port allocation for each switch.
ACAMSSBGRSW1 – LAN1
ACAMSSBGRSW2 – LAN1
ACAMSSBGRSW3 – LAN2
ACAMSSBGRSW4 – LAN2
The VCR LAN cabinet will contain four PLANET IGS-10020MT switches which are connected via fiber
optic to the four ACAMS rack switches.

for detailed historical data which in turn can be used to give important information about system
reliability and to help airport personnel to take correct decisions with regards to maintenance and
corrective actions.
The module can be run from the server’s terminal in the technical room or from the VCR SUP position.
An example of TCMS HMI Main View is shown below:
