3 PAS HARDWARE SPECIFICATIONS

3.1 System Architecture

The Process Automation System (PAS) consists of the Yokogawa Centum VP DCS system;
which integrates with the Prosafe-RS System for SIS/F&G and various other equipment
packages. The PAS architecture comprises of Human Interface Station (HIS or OWS) for
operator interface and Field Control Station (FCS) for control and monitoring the process.
The HIS and FCS are interconnected by redundant Vnet/IP control bus through a Layer 2
Switch L2SW. In addition, an Ethernet (High Level PCN) interconnects HIS for file transfer
functions and downloading the latest Anti-Virus Virus Definition updates (DAT) to the HIS
from the Anti-Virus Server. One of the HIS serves as an Engineering Workstation (EWS)
with builder capabilities.

Figure 3.1-1 shows a typical Centum VP and Prosafe-RS integration system configuration
with multiple domains through layer 3 switch, which has routing capabilities. Each FCS,
SENG (S-EWS), HIS (OWS or EWS) is considered as a station in a domain. A Vnet/IP
domain consists of two independent subnets of bus 1 and bus 2. Each domain can have a
maximum of 64 Vnet/IP stations and 124 general-purpose Ethernet devices (PCs, routers,
etc.). The integrated system can have a maximum of 16 Vnet/IP domains.

Figure 3.1-1 : Typical Centum VP and Prosafe-RS Integration System Configuration with
Multiple Domains

For the Angola Development Programme, the network architecture design is as per ICSS
Network Overall System Architecture Network Diagram, document number BLK31-NE-YG-
CS-SCM-0001. This diagram pertains specifically to PSVM FPSO and may differ with other
FPSOs in the quantities of PAS, SIS and F&G controllers/cabinets and the locations of the
cabinets.

3.2 Power Supply Requirement

Each PAS system cabinet shall be powered by two (2) independent 110VAC/60Hz UPS
power supply feeders.

For indoor cabinets, the PAS FCS shall be powered directly from the UPS 110VAC power
feeders. The UPS feeders are distributed to PAS system cabinets via ICSS Power
Distribution Cabinet.

For the Turret outdoor cabinet which will be installed in Hazardous Area Zone 2
classification, the PAS FCS system shall use the 24VDC power supply model which is
suitable for Hazardous Area installation. Redundant 24VDC power supply units installed
inside the cabinet shall be used to supply power to the system. There are no separate power
distribution cabinet in the Turret hence the 110 VAC power distribution for PAS & SIS will be
done inside the Turret PAS cabinet.

3.3 I/O Signal Requirement

3.5 Field Control Station (FCS)

Field Control Station is the PAS System’s controller. It performs the continuous control,
sequence control and batch control functions. The FCS consists of Field Control Unit (FCU)
and Node Units (NU) with I/O modules. FCU and NUs are interconnected by ESB bus. FCU
is a 19” rack unit consisting of processor cards, battery back-up unit, power supply units,
Vnet/IP and ESB bus interface cards. The NU is also a 19” rack unit. Each NU rack unit
consists of ESB interface cards and IO modules. Eight I/O modules of any type can be
mounted in one NU rack. The FCU and NU racks are mounted in standard Rittal cabinet.
The system cabinet design specification can be referred in ICSS Cabinet Design
Specification Doc. No. ANG-PROG-YG-CS-SPE-0003.

3.5.1 Field Control Unit (FCU)

The FCU is the intelligent part of the Field Control Station and has a processor with a 32Mb
memory, 72 hours battery back-up for main memory, FCU status output through contact,
Vnet/IP and ESB bus communication interface. The redundant power unit in the FCU
receives the specified power supply from the power distribution boards, converts it to an
isolated direct-current voltage, and supplies that DC power to each unit and card in the FCU.
The battery unit in the FCU backs up the memory in the processor card during power failure.
The processor card in the FCU performs control calculations and monitors its own CPU and
power supply. The ESB bus interface card performs data communication via an identical
card placed in the node unit.

Duplex FCUs are used in the Programme. It consists of redundant processor cards,
redundant battery back-up, redundant V-net/IP bus, redundant ESB bus, and redundant
power units. Dual redundant FCU has two processor cards, which can be replaced online.
Each processor card has two CPUs. Each CPU performs the same computations and
results are compared after each calculation. If the results agree then the card is healthy. On
the other hand if the results do not agree then the card sends “Abnormal Status” message
and the standby card takes over. The standby processor card also performs concurrently all
the calculations as the main processor does. Therefore, when the control is transferred from
main processor card to standby processor card there is no interruption or bump in the
control.

Redundant ESB Bus Coupler Module (EC401) are installed in the FCU to communicate with
the ESB Bus Interface Module (SB401) of the local node. The redundant ESB Bus Coupler
Module must be installed in slot 7 and slot 8 of the FCU. A maximum of six I/O modules can
be installed in the FCU if the ESB Bus Coupler Modules are installed.

3.5.2 Node Units

The Node Unit functions as an interface between hardwire and serial I/O signals from the
field to the Field Control Unit (FCU) via an ESB bus or via an ER bus. It also supplies power
to the I/O Modules. A redundant power supply module, redundant bus interface module and
I/O modules are installed in the node unit. On each node unit a maximum of eight I/O
modules with different combination can be mounted. All blank I/O slots in the node unit will
be mounted with dummy cover.

3.5.2.1 Local Node Unit

Local Nodes are also called “ESB Bus Node Unit” because they are connected directly to
the FCU via an ESB bus. The configuration for the Programme uses ANB10D Local Node
Units for system cabinets that will be installed in the LER, FW-LER, and Turret. Redundant
ESB Bus Coupler Module (EC401) are installed in the FCU to communicate with the ESB
Bus Interface Module (SB401) of the local node.

The typical Local Node Unit diagram is shown below:

3.9 Network
The Integrated Control & Safety System (ICSS) network is divided into two layers.
• PCN (Process Control Network)
• High Level PCN

3.9.1 Process Control Network (Vnet/IP)

Vnet/IP is used for the process control network, connecting all active PAS, SIS and F&G
components. It is a control bus conforming to IEEE802.3 and UDP/IP configured with dual-
redundant buses, namely Bus 1 and Bus 2. Each dual-redundant bus is configured with a
layer 2 switch (L2SW) with a maximum transmission speed of 1Gbps. Vnet/IP network uses
commercially off the shelf network products that have been tested for use by Yokogawa in
control and safety systems environment. It comprises of repeaters, Cat 6a cables, layer 2
switches and layer 3 switches. The devices in a domain are connected in star connection or
tree (multiple-star) connection.

Vnet/IP dual-redundant bus 1 is exclusively used for control communication and bus 2 is
used not only for control communication but for open communication by various kind of
standard protocol based on Ethernet within predetermined bandwidths. The bandwidth that
can be used for open communications via the bus-2 side is up to 300 Mbps. Vnet/IP Bus 2
enables data access by Exaopc OPC interface and communications based on TCP/IP
protocol. If a control communication error occurs at the bus 1 side, control bus
communication will be carried out via bus 2.

Bus switching is performed in every path up to the communication destination. In figure 3.9-
8 below, if a communication error occurs between the layer 2 switch cable and station C,
bus 1 is used between station A and station B, and bus 2 is used between station A and
station C. If the layer-2 switch itself on bus 1 is defective, bus 2 will be used between
stations A and B and between stations A and C. If a defective layer 2 switch reverts to
normal, bus 1 resumes.

In order to expand Vnet/IP system, the Vnet/IP may be split into several domains. Up to 64
stations can be connected in a single domain. Each Vnet/IP domain is interlinked using
Layer 3 switches (L3SW) with a transmission rate as high as 1 Gbps (between L2SW and
L3SW). All stations connected to a respective Vnet/IP domain are numbered in an address
numbering system ranging from 01 to 64. As a result each device on the Vnet/IP can be
uniquely identified by the combination of domain and address numbers. Up to 15 levels (16
hierarchical connections) of Vnet/IP domains can be connected. Vnet/IP domain connection
topology includes bidirectional and hierarchical connections. In bidirectional connections,
HIS’s in both domains can perform operation and monitoring of the other domain

The Specification when Connecting Devices in a Vnet/IP Domain is as follows:

Table 3.9-17 : Specification when Connecting Device in a Vnet/IP Domain

Number of Vnet/IP stations/devices Max. 64 units
Other general-purpose Ethernet Max. 124 units
communication devices (PCs, routers, etc.)
Levels of layer 2 switches Max. 7 levels
Distance between layer 2 switch and station Max. 100m (when Cat5e
cable is used)
For the programme, max.
90m Cat6a cable will be
used
Connection distance between layer 2 switches Max. 5 km (when optical
fiber cable is used)

The Specification of connection between Vnet/IP domains is as follows:

Table 3.9-18 : Specification when Connecting between Vnet/IP Domains

Multi-level connection of Vnet/IP domains Max. 15 levels (16 layers)
Transmission delay between any domains 250 msec or less

3.9.2 High Level PCN

The High Level PCN is a Gigabit Ethernet segment used for OPC communication and client-
server communication. It forms the isolation layer between PCN and BP COE. The ALMS
server, ICSS Anti-Virus server, SER server, PAS DHS server, PRM server, Loop Tune
Server, VTS servers and OPC servers reside on this network.

3.9.3 Remote ER (Enhanced Bus) Bus

PAS remote node is used to interface with I/Os when the node unit is installed in a remote
location away from the FCS controller. The I/O signals are transmitted via the remote ER
bus to the main FCS controller. The Remote ER Bus is a proprietary dual-redundant
communication bus within each FCS. The physical layer interface of the ER Bus conforms to
IEEE802.2 10Base-T with a communication speed of 10 Mbps. In the Programme, a Fibre

Optic repeater will be used to extend the ER bus from the FCS located in the LER to the
Engine Room where the Remote nodes will be installed.
.

3.9.4 Network Switches

The ICSS system network uses commercially off the shelf network products that have been
tested for use by Yokogawa in control and safety systems environment. It comprises of
network devices such as Layer 2 and Layer 3 switches to connect the various Vnet/IP
protocol-enabled devices and general-purpose devices such as printers, HPCN devices, etc.
unrelated to Vnet/IP protocol that essentially form a part of the network. Vnet/IP protocol-
enabled devices are equipments which are installed and configured with VI701 (Vnet/IP
interface cards) in a general-purpose PC and FCS for Vnet/IP. The network connections
shall be made using the standard Cat6a cables and Single mode Fiber optic cables. The
detail specifications of all the network switches used are defined in ICSS Component
Specification Doc. No. ANG-PROG-YG-CS-SPE-0001.

3.9.5 Network Cables

The Ethernet (1000Mbps) is used to connect all PAS equipment (FCS, OWS, EWS, servers,
L2SW, L3SW, printers) using Cat6a cables.

The devices in the Vnet/IP domain and High Level PCN are connected in star network with
Cat6a cables.

Single mode fiber optic cables will also be used for interconnecting Layer2/3 switches
located in different buildings. Single Mode (SM) fibre optic cable to ITU-T G652 shall be
used. LC-type connectors shall be used in the Fibre optic patch panels.

All cables will have source and destination cable tags on both ends.

The detail specifications of the Ethernet cables are provided in ICSS Component
Specification Doc. No. ANG-PROG-YG-CS-SPE-0001.

3.10 Spares Philosophy

This section explains the hardware spare philosophy for the PAS in the Programme.

Each I/O type shall have a total of 20% fitted spare points fully wired from the I/O modules
via system cables to the field interface terminals in a cabinet bay. One unused spare of each
type of I/O module shall be provided in each cabinet bay.

There shall be a total of 20% expansion spare slots available in the control unit and node
units for future installation of additional I/O modules in each cabinet bay. However, the slots
allocated for the unused spares of each I/O module type shall be considered as part of the
20% expansion spare slots.

20% spare space shall be provided in each cabinet bay to cater for the future addition of
termination boards and I/O terminals. Cable ducts shall also be sized with minimum 20%
spare space.

20% field interface terminals shall be provided as spare. These terminals will be pre-wired
with the spare I/O points from the I/O modules. Spare cores of the field cables may be
terminated to the spare field interface terminals provided as required.

Each 24VDC Power Supply Units shall be sized with 20% spare capacity. Power distribution
terminals shall also be provided with 20% wired spares.
