INDIVIDUAL WEEKLY REPORTS

FIRST WEEK: APRIL 2nd TO APRIL 5th, 2024 – Juan David

Quejada Vega

APRIL 2nd

This day was the introduction to the practice site, where initially the ID card was
requested and then our practice teacher, Lidy Higuera, explained what the practice
at the institution would entail. And a protocol reading was conducted.

Subsequently, she guided us through the facilities located at Cra. 28 #40-11,

where we passed through the wound care area, Pharmacy, 24-hour Holter Area,
etc.

APRIL 3rd
University Activity: The Integrative Case Activity: Interprofessional Education
began with a detailed presentation of the objective and purpose of the activity,
emphasizing the importance of collaboration among different healthcare
professions. The case of Juan, a 68-year-old patient with a history of stroke,
depression, and overmedication, was analyzed. After internal discussions within
each group, opinions were shared, and various professional perspectives were
evaluated. Two representatives from each group presented conclusions,
highlighting the lack of interdisciplinary communication as a key factor in the
patient's situation. Alternative actions were discussed, and proposals were
presented to address the identified problems.

APRIL 4th
The placement and removal of multiple Holters and Maps were conducted under
the supervision and guidance of Sulay Castañeda. The process that patients
undergo before the device placement was learned, and at the end, they were
provided with a card to claim their exam results. Instructions for patients to care for
the devices were learned and communicated to them. Bracelets were cleaned and
subsequently stored.
APRIL 5th
I attended FOSUNNAB, where a myocardial revascularization was scheduled. I
was assigned to Perfusion, allowing me to witness the operating room activities
from that perspective. I learned about the entire process of initiating, maintaining,
and weaning off the extracorporeal circulation pump. I participated in all the
processes prior to starting the pump and the surgery itself.
