Before installing MS Software into the ICIII/FMPCIII, preliminary work for the ICIII/FMPCIII is required
according to the system environment. This MTI describes preliminary work for the ICIII/FMPCIII before
installing MS Software.

Preliminary work for ICIII/FMPCIII before installing MS Software:

Performing PC preparations such as OS and network settings is required for installing MS01 Software.

 Pre-installation guide (for ICIII/FMPCIII)

1. Outline of Preliminary Work for the ICIII

Before installing MS01 Basic Software, the following preliminary work for ICIII hardware is required.

BIOS settings Hyper-Threading: ON

1394 connection (On board): Disable
OS WindowsXP Professional SP2
Drive settings FD: “A” drive
CD-ROM: “N” drive
Total hard disk space: (“C” and “D” drives)
40GB: (10GB, 30GB)
80GB: (20GB, 60GB)
160GB: (20GB, 140GB)
“C” and “D” drives: NTFS format
User registration Register the following data.
User name: FRONTIER
Password: FRONTIER
Group: Administrators

When installing antivirus software, exclude the “D:\FUJIFILM” folder from
Antivirus software settings

Before installing MS01 Basic Software, the following preliminary work for FMPCIII hardware is required.

Do not install the “NetBEUI” protocol.

3. BIOS Setting and User Registration
3.1 Hyper-threading Setup
* The following procedures are examples. They
may vary depending on the PC.
1. Start up the ICIII/FMPCIII and then press [FX]
key (“X” varies depending on the PC) to display
the BIOS screen.
2. Set “Hyper-threading” to ON.
Note 1: When a “Core 2” processor is used and
this setting is not displayed in the BIOS
setting screen, this operation is not
necessary.
Note 2: If the setting is changed from ON (OFF) to
OFF (ON), reinstallation of the operating
system is required.

3.1 User Registration
Register the following user name and password.
User name: FRONTIER
Password: FRONTIER
Group: Administrators
The following procedure is an example when
using the Wizard in the Windows XP.
1. On the Desktop, select [Start] -> “Control
Panel” -> “User Accounts” and then click
“Create a new account” in the “User Accounts”
screen.
2. In “Name the new account”, enter “FRONTIER”
and then click the [Next] button.
3. Select “Computer administrator” and then click
the [Create Account] button.
4. In the “User Accounts” screen, click the 8. Click “User Account”.

4. Windows Settings

4.1 System Failure Settings 4.2 Disabling Accessibility Options

1. On the Desktop, select [Start] -> “Control
Panel” -> “System”. In the “System Properties”
screen, select the “Advanced” tab, click the
[Settings] button and then perform the system
failure settings as shown below.

“Accessibility Options” screen, select the
“Keyboard” tab, click the [Settings] button,
remove checks [9] from all items and then click
the [OK] button.

4.4 Disabling Error Reporting 4.5 Auto-hide Setting for Task Bar

2. Double-click “System”.

“Auto-hide the taskbar”.

“Advanced” tab and then click the [Error
Reporting] button.

“Disable error reporting”, remove the check [9]
from “But notify me...” and then click the [OK]

1. Open “Control Panel”.
1. On the Desktop, select [Start] -> “Run”.
2. Double-click “Windows Firewall”.

place a check [9] in “Visual Notification”.

4.8 Time Zone Setting (for each country)
Open “Control Panel” -> “Date and Time” to set
the Time Zone and Date & Time appropriate for
the installation location.
Note 2: Note that if a date later than the current
date is set, the system cannot be started
up even if the date setting is returned to
the current date. Also note that AM/PM is
specified correctly.

1. On the Desktop, select [Start] -> “Control

Panel” -> “Network Connections”.
The “Network Connections” window appears.

[Time Zone] tab

2. Click “Network Connections”.

The “Network Connections Status” window
appears.

Note 1: If a date earlier than the last system

start-up is set, the following message
appears and the MS system cannot be
started up.

In other words, if the date is set back with

the date/time setting of the operating
system, the above message appears.

If only the time is set back, the above

message does not appear and the MS
system operates normally. Accordingly,
even if the above message appears, the
system returns to normal by returning the
date setting to the current date.

3. Click the [Properties] button.
The “Local Area Connection Properties”
window appears. Make sure that the “General”
tab is selected.
4. Click the [Configure] button next to “Connect
using”.
The “<Network card name> Properties” window
appears.
5. Click the “Power Management” tab.
The “Power Management” tab appears.

6. Remove the check [9] from the “Allow the
computer to turn off this device to save power”
box.
7. Click the [OK] button.
Operation returns to the “Network
Connections” window.
8. Repeat this procedure for each “Local Area
Connection” in the “Network Connections”
window.
Note: Do not perform this procedure for 1394
connections.
9. Click the [X] button at the upper right-hand
corner to close the “Network Connection”
window.
Disabling the power saving function is now
completed.
4.10 Disabling Security Center
1. Select [Start] -> “Run”. Enter “Services.msc”
and then click the [OK] button.
2. Double-click “Security Center”.
3. In the “General” tab, select “Disabled” for 3. In the “Folder Options” screen, select the
