1. Purpose
To ensure that employees using hand tools for the tasks are aware of the risks and how to
conduct their work safely

2. Scope
This specifically applies to Indalo Electronic Recyclers

3. Responsibility
All Employees

4. Work Procedure
Hand Tools are non-powered and powered(cordless, battery powered). They are a means of
mechanical assistance to get a job done. They include anything from axes to wrenches. The
highest risk of use of hand tools is from defective tools or improper use and maintenance.

Handtool Guidelines

1. Don’t use “homemade” tools

2. Ensure the tool is inspected prior to use
3. Do not use defective tools
4. Be sure to keep a good footing and maintain a good balance
5. Check tools for sharp edges or burrs
6. Tools must only be used as prescribed by the manufacturer and not as an
alternative means
