3.9.Connection of the EXTING

EXTING : The bleed output interface can provide an output of up to 3A for 10 minutes to drive the

solenoid valve. The resistance of the solenoid must be greater than 10 ohms to ensure that the maximum

amperage rating of the bleed output is not exceeded. The solenoid valve shall be equipped with a

freewheeling diode to prevent the electromotive force (EMF) generated by the solenoid valve when

de-energized from interfering with the operation of the controller. One 10 K termination resistor

(supplied)It needs to be connected at the end of the circuit to monitor the open or short circuit fault of its

wiring. In addition, in order to prevent the misoperation of the solenoid valve, the circuit needs to be

connected in series with a diode in the forward direction. The typical connection is shown in the figure

4.2.Fire alarm status

After receiving the fire alarm reported by any detector, the Fire indicator lamp will light up and the detailed
information of the fire alarm will be displayed on the interface, and the F. A. OUT1/2 of the fire relay and
the S. C. OUT of the sound and light relay will also be output.

4.3.The first stage of the deflation process

After receiving a fire alarm reported by any detector, if the equipment type of the fire alarm reported by the
detector meets one of the automatic deflation activation conditions and the gas extinguishing zone is in
AUTO MANUAL mode, the Activated lamp on the front panel will flash and the 1ST STAGE relay will
output.
Note: If the AUTO MANUAL is switched to the MANUAL ONLY mode, the Activated light on the front
panel will go out. If the AUTO MANUAL mode is switched to the subsequent mode, the status of the
Activated light on the front panel will also change with the control status. However, the 1ST STAGE relay
will only retain the initial output state.

4.4.Compound fire alarm bleed

After receiving a fire alarm reported by any detector, if the equipment type of the fire alarm reported by the
detector meets two of the automatic deflation activation conditions (which can be configured in Activated
conditon in the gas extinguishing configuration interface), and the system is in AUTOMANUAL mode, the
controller will respond in the following order:

A) The fire alarm information will be displayed at the main interface of the screen, and the gas
extinguishment related information will display the alarm information of the corresponding detector
equipment type;
B) The 2ND SOUNDER relay will operate in 1 Hz intermittent mode;
C) 2ND STAGE relay will output;
D) The Activated light on the front panel will be on constantly;
E) The Release Imminent light of the remote status panel is normally on;
F) The countdown control pops up on the main interface of the screen to display the remaining time before
the extinguishing agent is released;
G) The remote status panel provides an LED display to show the countdown time;
H) Extinguishing agent (EXTING. Relays) will be output at the end of the configured delay time. If the
Released signal is configured as "None", the Extinguishant Released lights on the front panel and the

Page 14 of 27

remote status panel will be displayed in the EXTING.. Always on after output;
I) The 2ND SOUNDER relay will output continuously;
J) EXTING. The relay stops outputting after the configured duration is reached;

Prompt: Auto Delay and EXTING. Continuous output time of the relay (Exting. Duration time) can be
modified by entering the gas extinguishment configuration interface at level 3.

Notice:
 The controller will not respond to the reset operation until the deflation is completed when the
deflation process of the gas extinction zone has been started and the start condition has been reached
(i.e., when the Released Imminent light is on or when the screen interface displays a countdown).
 The deflated Activated and Released messages are indicated only by the indicator light, and the
interface does not display messages about Activated and Released.

Fig. 1 Compound Fire Alarm Vent

4.5.Manual deflation
When the front panel-mounted Extinguishant Released button, the Monitored Manual Air Bleed input
(PROG. IN type set to "manual release" "), or the Remote Status Dial mounted Extinguishant Released
button are operated, The controller will respond in this order.
What is different from the above response is the pre-deflation delay time, which needs to be modified at
level 3 by the Manual Delay in the gas extinguishment configuration.

4.6.Silence
Silence button is used to control the start and stop of audible and visual alarm. When the sound-light
control is in the enabled state, the sound-light control state will automatically switch to the disabled state
after the site sound-light alarm starts or resounds due to certain conditions.

: Silence disabled,Turn on all audible and visual alarms that are turned off.
: Silence enabled,Turn off all audible and visual alarms that are turned on.

Page 15 of 27
ECP1000 Gas Extinguishing Control Panel

Note: The 2ND SOUNDER can be stopped by the Silence button, but cannot be restarted by the Silence
button.

4.7.Evacuate
The Evacuate button responds as follows:
 Activate all audible and visual alarms connected to the controller, such as the S. C. OUT relay (except
the 2ND SOUNDER relay).
 The Evacuate light on the front panel stays on.

Tip: The Evacuate light will be turned off after the Silence function is enabled or reset.

4.8.Reset
Operating the Reset button in level 2 or 3 resets the system in the following ways:
 The gas extinction zone is not in the bleeding process, or the gas extinction zone has entered the
bleeding process but the system has a system fault:
After pressing the Reset button, all the States of the system will be reset. The reset time is about 10 seconds,
and a prompt box will pop up on the screen interface.

Figure 2 Reset Prompt Box

 The gas extinction zone has entered the deflation process:

When the Reset button is pressed, faults, inputs, outputs, countdowns, etc. related to the gas extinction zone
are not affected by the reset operation unless the deflation is complete, the deflation has failed, or there is a
system fault. The status and information not related to gas extinguishment, such as the input of monitoring
fire alarm (ZONE1/2), the output of relay related to fire alarm (F. A. OUT1/2, S. C. OUT), fire alarm lamp,
etc. Are reset. There will be no prompt box on the screen interface.

4.9.FAULT

Page 16 of 27
ECP1000 Gas Extinguishing Control Panel

If the system detects a fault event, the corresponding fault message will be displayed at the fault message of
the main interface of the screen, the fault lamp of the panel and the fault lamp of the remote status panel
corresponding to the fault in the gas extinguishment area will be normally on, and the fault relay FAUlT _
OUT1/2 in the gas extinguishment area will output.
Notice:
 When the active relay output (F. A. OUT/1, S. C. OUT, EXTING.) startup condition is reached in
some cases, if the active output is in the fault state at this time, the active relay output will not act for
safety. The output state of the active relay remains unchanged even after changing from the fault state
to the normal state, except for the new condition trigger.
 Due to the circuit design of the terminal board itself, when one of the active relays of the F. A. OUT1
or the F. A. OUT2 has a fault, the relays of the F. A. OUT1 and the F. A. OUT2 will not operate.

4.9.1.Comm. Fault
Comm. Fault is the abbreviation of communication fault, which represents the communication failure
between a device and the host. The communication failure message shown in the figure below represents
that the remote status panel 1 (RSU1000 is the model of the remote status panel) has a communication
failure with the host.

Fig. 3 Communication fault

4.9.2.Flooding Zone Fault

When the system has a fault related to gas extinction, the Flooding Zone Fault lamp on the front panel will
be on constantly. The faults related to gas extinction include:
 EXTING. Relay open short circuit fault;
 2ND SOUNDER relay open short circuit fault;
 Open short circuit fault of PROG. IN input terminal;
 Pressure Feedback input terminal open-short circuit fault;
 HOLD input terminal open short circuit fault;
 Low voltage fault

4.9.3.System fault

Page 17 of 27
ECP1000 Gas Extinguishing Control Panel

When the system has a system fault, in addition to responding to the actions described in 5.8, the System
Fault light on the front panel will also be on, the buzzer will output continuously, and the terminal board
will enter the safety mode. If the system fault is not caused by the main control board, the UI interface will
display the system fault event which is different from the normal fault event. The two system fault
messages as shown in the figure below represent that the power supply of the controller and the
communication between the terminal board and the main control board are faulty respectively. It is only
allowed to be removed by manually pressing the reset button on the front panel after login.
Safe mode: fault relay and 24VK relay output, other relays stop output, and input monitoring of terminal
board is closed.

Figure 4 System Failure Event

4.9.4.FAULT_IN Monitoring
FAULT _ IN of the terminal board is an additional fault monitoring input terminal provided to the user,
which can be connected to fault monitoring equipment. If the FAULT _ IN terminal detects the input, the
corresponding fault message will be displayed at the fault information of the UI interface, the fault lamp of
the front panel and the remote status panel corresponding to the gas extinguishment area will be on, and the
fault relay corresponding to the gas extinguishment area will output.

Figure 5 Fault Input

Page 18 of 27

4.10.Buzzer
Two buzzers are provided on the controller, one is a 5V buzzer and the other is a 24V buzzer.

4.10.1. 5V buzzer
There is a small 5V buzzer on the controller, which is used to indicate the tone when the key is pressed.

4.10.2. 24V buzzer

The sound of the 24V buzzer is used to indicate the alarm. The sound frequencies of the 24V buzzer on the
controller and the buzzer on the remote status panel are mainly divided into the following types:
 Fire alarm
 Air release tone (same frequency as fire alarm tone)
 Fault tone
 HOLD pressed tone (same frequency as fault tone)

Priority: Fire alarm tone = deflated tone > fault tone = hold press tone
Note: In case of system failure, the buzzer shall output continuously and shall not be silenced.

4.11.Hold
When the system detects that there is an input at the HOLD terminal or there is a short-circuit fault at the
HOLD input terminal, the Hold Activated light on the front panel and the remote status panel will remain
on, and the buzzer of the controller and the remote status panel will sound at the same frequency as the
normal fault. If a deflation countdown is in progress in the deflation zone, the countdown will be
interrupted and the predeflation remaining time will return to the initial value.When the HOLD is released
and there are no HOLD-related faults, the Hold Activated light on the front panel and remote status panel
will go off and the countdown to predeflation will continue.

4.12.Pressure Feedback
The pressure feedback input is connected to the fire extinguisher. When the fire extinguisher is released, the
controller will detect the input signal and the Extinguishant Released light will remain on. If the fire
extinguisher is released by abnormal means and the Pressure Feedback terminal of the controller detects the
input, the Activated light on the front panel will remain on, 1ST/2ND STAGE relay output and 2ND
SOUNDER continuous output.

Note: If the "Released Signal" is set to "None" in the gas extinguishment configuration, the Extinguishant
Released lamp will remain on when the fire extinguisher is released by the compound fire alarm or manual
deflation, regardless of whether the pressure feedback signal is received.

4.13.PROG.IN (Programmable input)

The custom types of PROG.IN terminals are as follows:
 Mode selection: connected to the remote manual automatic switch, it is AUTO MANUAL state when
there is no input, and MANUAL ONLY mode when there is input. This manual and automatic switch
state is one of the factors affecting the manual and automatic state results of the gas extinguishment
zone.
 Manual deflation: connected to remote deflation button, with functions consistent with those in 5.4.
 Low pressure switch input: connected to the pressure switch on the cylinder of the fire extinguisher.
If the pressure in the cylinder is lower than the set point, the switch will operate. When an input is
detected, the main UI displays a low voltage fault message and the front panel Flooding Zone Fault
light is illuminated.

4.14.Modify the control mode

By operating the knob on the front panel, the manual auto switch on the terminal board (PROG. IN type is
module select) or the knob on the remote status panel, the control status of the gas extinction zone can be
switched between MANUAL ONLY and AUTO MANUAL. If the input of one of the modes is MANUAL
ONLY, the control state of the extinction zone is MANUAL ONLY. When the gas extinguishing zone is in
the MANUAL ONLY state, it is not possible to enter the deflation process through the operation of two fire
alarm combined automatic deflation.
The control status of the gas extinguishment area will be displayed on the top of the relevant information of
gas discharge in the UI main interface, and its status will also be indicated by the AUTO MANUAL or
MANUAL ONly lamp on the front panel or remote status panel.

4.15.DISABLE
It is possible to disable certain functions, inputs or outputs of the gas extinction zone. If the system is
shielded, the shielding message on the UI main interface will display specific shielding information, and
the Disabled light on the front panel and the Disabled light on the remote status panel corresponding to the
gas extinguishment area will be on.
Note: When certain conditions reach the relay response condition, the relay will not respond if the relay is
in the shielding state at this time. Without resetting, the output state of the relay remains unchanged, except
for the new condition trigger, even after changing from the shield state to the normal state.

4.15.1.ZONE1/2 DISABLE
Input, fault of ZONE 1/2 on shield terminal block.
Note: If the existing fire alarm is shielded, the fire alarm message on the interface will not be eliminated
and will take effect only after reset; if the shielding is cancelled, the status of ZONE1/2 will be detected
again and reported. (The same applies to faults)

4.15.2.S.C.OUT DISABLE
For S. C. OUT output and fault on the shield terminal board, the Sounder Disabled/Fault lamp on the shield
rear panel will be yellow in addition to the Disabled lamp.
Notice:
 When the existing S. C. OUT fault is masked, the fault message on the interface will not be eliminated
and will take effect only after reset; if the mask is cancelled, the status of the S. C. OUT will be
detected again and reported.
 Masking or unmasking does not update the expected output state of the S. C. OUT and requires a reset
to take effect.

4.15.3.FAULT_OUT DISABLE
Page 21 of 27
ECP1000 Gas Extinguishing Control Panel

Shield the FAULT _ OUT relay output on the terminal block.

Note:masking does not update the expected output state of FAULT_OUT and requires a reset to take effect;
unmasking updates the output state of FAULT_OUT.

4.15.4.Extinguishant DISABLE
Block the Exting uishant function. When the Extinguishant is masked, the system does not enter the bleed
process.
Notice:
 After the Extinguishant is shielded, it will not enter the deflation process through the two fire alarm
composite automatic deflation or manual deflation, but the Activated light on the front panel will be on,
the 2ND SOUNDER relay will continue to output, and the 1ST/2ND STAGE relay will output.
 After masking the Exting uishant, for an existing EXTING. Fault, the fault message on the interface
will not be eliminated, and will take effect only after reset; unmasking will re-detect and report
EXTING. The status of the terminal.
 If the system performs composite fire alarm deflation or manual deflation in the Extinguishant
shielding state, it will not enter the deflation process. After the Extinguishant shielding state is
cancelled, the deflation process can be reestablished only by resetting.

4.15.5.Manual Release DISABLE

Manual deflation of the shielding system.
Note:PROG. IN faults will not be reported if the PROG. IN terminal type is manual bleed. If the existing
PROG. IN fault is masked, the fault message on the interface will not be eliminated and will take effect
only after reset; if the mask is cancelled, the status of the PROG. IN terminal will be detected again and
reported.

4.15.6.Stage_1 DISABLE
Shield the output of the 1ST STAGE terminal.
Note:masking or unmasking does not update the expected output status of the 1ST STAGE and requires a
reset to take effect.

4.15.7.Stage_2 DISABLE
Shield the output of the 2ND STAGE terminal.
Note:masking or unmasking does not update the expected output state of the 2ND STAGE and requires a
reset to take effect.

5.Battery Capacity Calculation

The standby time of the fire alarm control panel after the main power source has failed depends on the
quiescent load of the panel, the alarm load of the panel, and the capacity of the batteries.
To determine the capacity of batteries required in a system, the following formula is used:
Battery capacity (Ah) = 1.25 x ( T1 x ( IFq + ILq ) + T2 x ( IFmax + ILmax + IRout ) )

Page 22 of 27
ECP1000 Gas Extinguishing Control Panel

In which,
The multiplier 1.25 is present to account for loss of capacity over the life of the battery.
IFq = 0.15A, which is the quiescent current of the fire alarm control panel in the event of the loss of the
mains supply;
ILq is the quiescent current of the loop load, which is determined by the number of loads. The quiescent
current of a smoke detector, a heat detector, or a manual call point is typically 0.0002A (or 200μA), while
that of a module/sounder strobe is 0.002A (or 2mA);
IFmax = 0.16A, which is the alarm current of the fire alarm control panel;
ILmax is the maximum loop current. The alarm current of a smoke detector, a heat detector, or a manual call
point is typically 0.001A (or 1mA), while that of a input/output modules or Intelligent Sounder Beacon is
0.008A (or 8mA) ;
IRout is the alarm output current of the panel’s three relays, which is determined by the number of loads they
connect;
T1 is the amount of standby hours required (most commonly being 24 hours);
T2 is the amount of alarm hours required (most commonly being half an hour).
Take the system of 120 points as an example: there are 104 addressable detectors, 8 input/output modules, 8
intelligent Sounder Beacon, 8 loop isolators and 3 full loaded relay output.
Thus,
ILq = 0.0002 x 104 + 0.002 x 16 = 0.0528A,
ILmax = 0.001 x 104+0.008 x 16 = 0.232A,
IRout = 1 x 1.1 = 1.1A,
Battery capacity = 1.25 x (24 x (0.15+0.0528) + 0.5 x (0.16+0.232+1.1) )
= 1.25 x (4.8672 + 0.746)
= 7.0165Ah

Note: The final interpretation right belongs to the company.

6.Maintenance and Troubleshooting

6.1.Maintenance
Periodic maintenance should be carried out on the system as prescribed in the local design, maintenance
and installation regulations.
The key to the panel shall be kept by specially assigned maintenance personnel.
The standby batteries should be periodically checked for integrity of the connections. And a period of 5
years is recommended to replace the correct type of battery.

6.2.Troubleshooting
Solution of all suspected faults MUST only be carried out by suitably qualified technical engineers.
 Problem: apply power to the panel but the LCD display is off and panel does not work.
Possible reason and solution: check whether the cable is properly connected between the CB-Board and
the MB-Board; Check if the POWER indicator on the front panel is on, otherwise something is wrong with
the P.S.E that the manufacturer should be informed.

Page 23 of 27
ECP1000 Gas Extinguishing Control Panel

 Problem: both mains fault and battery fault are reported.

Possible reason and solution: It may be due to the reason that the mains is in fault condition while battery
is at low voltage.
 Problem: a fault of loop open is reported.
Possible reason and solution: check if the connector to the terminal of Loop Out or Loop In is loose;
Check if the circuit between Loop Out and Loop In exists an interruption.
 Problem: a fault of loop short is reported.
Possible reason and solution: check if the polarized terminals of Loop Out and Loop In are connected
right, that is, ensure the signal from Loop Out (+) is not back to Loop In (-) by mistake but to Loop In (+);
Check if a short circuit exists on the loop and repair.
 Problem: alarm sounders cannot be activated when a fire signal is generated.
Possible reason and solution: read the specific fault message regarding the sounders and repair; Make sure
sounders are powered by 24V; Check the cause and effect configuration about sounders activation.
 Problem: the F.A.Out, or the S.C.Out or the 2ND SOUNDER or the EXTING. is reported fault.
Possible reason and solution: ensure that a 10K EOL resistor is well connected to each of the two ports;
Check if a short circuit exists on the port and repair.
