Gap Year

Introduction
A gap year is basically a time out from studying between High School and University, when we
can learn new skills, and experience independance.

During our gap year we ca choose how we spend it:

Voluntary work

Part time work

Cultural exchange

Travel the world


Voluntary work

Students can choose to work for the :

Red Cross

Green Peace

Unicef

WWF

Learning new skills and at the same time helping the world.

Part time or full time work.

Working to get experience and helping to save money to pay for


university.

McDonald’s

Supermarkets

Babysitting/gardening/walking dogs etc...

Tourism, hotels/restaurants/guides etc...

Cutural Exchanges

European Youth Programme.

Living with the hosts, working on projects, with elderly,homeless and


the disabled.

Advantages of a Gap Year.

Help people and animals in need.

Work experience

Learn new skills and discover new cultures.

Be independant from your family.

Disadvantages

One year behind with your studies

Difficulty in returning to study again.

Conclusion

When I am eighteen years old, I think I would like to take a Gap Year,
maybe do some voluntary work with the WWF because I love animals!
