Advertising plays an important role in our society

Along with the development of society, more and more problems are brought
to our attention, one of which is that the role of advertisement in the modern world.
Although advertisement plays a vital role in our society, we could not deny that
everything has two different sides. In my opinion, it has both positive and
negative sides in equal measure.

There are several disadvantages inherent in advertising. Advertisements, with

the advent of the Internet, has been rising on an unprecedented scale. Pop-ups, flyers
and billboards are virtually everywhere, and since we are simply unable to avoid
seeing them, such advertising overload has been considered to be unwelcome
intrusion rather than useful information.

Furthermore, several ads attempt to tempt people into making unnecessary

purchases. Every year, many people, under the manipulation of alluring and
provocative ads, queue for the latest flagship phones, even though their old ones are
still in perfectly good conditions. Discarding things when they are still of good use is
a huge waste of money and resources.

However, advertisements and commercials are instrumental in promoting a new

product to the market. Along with marketing, advertising plays a vital role in
bringing fresh products and services closer to consumers who have not heard about
them.

Were it not for commercials, it would be very difficult for sellers to get their
products to the market, and for buyers to be informed of new commodities. Also, in
recent years, advertising has become very thought-provoking and educational.
Messages of love, friendship, family core values, and environmental protection that
are included in some commercials have been very well received by the audience.

In conclusion, my firm conviction is that advertising is detrimental for its

intrusive and manipulative nature, but it can be very informative and meaningful as
well.

The bets job for you
Being a girl living in my 20s, I strongly believe that I should choose a right
path for my career. In my opinion, a good career is not only a job that can offer me a
good income to afford my living, but is enjoyable as well. That’s why I think a job as
English teacher will suit me well.

Actually, I’ve been pursuing this profession for nearly a year, and I realize that
it’s my true calling. I would put my heart and soul in it to become a good teacher to
help learners of English to make tremendous progress and communicate effectively
in both social and work contexts.

Teaching English involves doing thorough research on methods of learning

and teaching a language and then apply the right one in specific cases. Teachers also
prepare for lessons prior to class time to make sure that contents will be delivered
within an amount of time, say 45 minutes or one hour, and most importantly,
students will be engaged in the lesson. On top of that, tests and exams are needed to
check students’ progress and make any changes if necessary.

In order to become a professional English teacher, I would have to obtain the

International teaching certificate CELTA that stands for Certificate in English
Language Teaching to Adults. I also need to brush up on my English to gain
proficiency as well as teach and observe several classes to get the picture of common
problems that learners of English have.

Teaching would be my dream job as I’ve loved English since I was 4. It was my
aunt that inspired me to learn English. I would like to share what I have
accumulated throughout the years with learners of English. And I would be able to
meet learners from all walks of life, each of whom has a story. And this means that I
can have a great time listening to their experiences and learn a lot from them. Then I
would make friends and broaden my social circles. I also like to deliver lessons,
communicate with others and ensure that they understand the lessons and the
messages I convey. It would be big happiness when my students get good results,
exchange small talks with me and give me presents on special occasions such as
Vietnamese teachers’ day or Women’s day even after they finish the course.

Even though I have gained a lot of experience and knowledge of English and I
am currently working as a English tutor, I still have a long way to go before knowing
it inside out.  I also hope that I can be good enough to get some promotion in near
future.

Is it a good idea for students to live in the hostel
University education is the most important milestone in an individual's
professional and personal growth. The time spent at university has a profound effect
on the majority of students. Students benefit from the professional relationships
formed during this time, as well as the knowledge gained from mentors and peers.
For the duration of a student's education, the living environment is extremely
important. In general, a student can choose between university dormitories and
apartments in a community. Both have advantages and disadvantages. To make a
basic comparison, we will shed some light on both.

Most large universities facilitate dormitories for its students. While a few
mandate the students to live in dormitories, most keep it optional for the students to
choose. With the university's perspective, students staying in hostels enable them to
maintain discipline and make it easy for them to administer the students. It becomes
easy for the University's administration to engage students for events, motivate
students with different programs and furthermore it helps the university to keep an
eye on the student's progress in non-academic activities too. With the Student's
perspective, staying in the University hostel is convenient, since if the university
campus is really large, a student would waste a lot of time in commute is staying at a
far place. It also helps a student to have group study sessions and working groups to
grow in academics and co-curricular activities.

Since hostel accommodation is not suitable for many students because of few
negatives like ragging, harassment and lack of privacy, many students prefer to have
their own arrangement. Students prefer to live in apartments in communities either
sharing with a fellow student or living as a paying guest with a family. This has
many advantages such as the students can tailor the room as per their demand and
preference. It also helps students to live an affordable living and save the cost.
Students get their privacy and space to study without getting disturbed by nuances.
While it has advantages, it can also make a student lonely which can increase the
stress resulting into problems like depression.

In a nutshell, every student can have their personal preferences and should
decide what suits them best. Personally, I would prefer living in a hostel
accommodation where I can learn new things, make new friends and build new
bonds with beautiful experiences. As every individual is unique, their needs are
unique, University Administration can work towards making the hostels suit to the
students’ needs as much as possible. Students can use the experience to the
betterment of their career.

Is it a good idea for students to have a part-time job
Education is an integral part of our society. Therefore, numerous individuals
dedicate an ample amount of their time towards education. Furthermore, some
students consider working part-time while attending school. Hence, it certainly is a
benefit to the students. In this essay, we shall discuss this topic further.

Everything has a price, and the cost of education is extremely expensive these
days, so most people cannot afford it. However, many individuals take out loans in
order to pay their tuition fees. Moreover, managing the daily expenses such as rent,
transportation, and food requires extra money, and thus many students prefer to work
part-time to handle these payments. Further, by working, they incorporate
responsibility as well as punctuality into their schedules. For example, they learn
about the basic necessities that are to be done, like paying rent and bills on time,
buying sufficient food items, and monitoring monthly expenses. Additionally, it
instills the ideology of hard work and dedication as well as the skills to adapt in
order to survive.

On the contrary, a person may become distracted or deviate from course. An

individual, for example, may be enticed by the job's accessibility and thus pay less
attention to studies. In addition to this, the salaries are not sufficient, and the energy
and time taken could be exhausting and tedious, thus impairing their concentration.
Alternatively, it all can be managed through proper planning.

To conclude, good things come from patience and perseverance; thus, working
while studying is a wise decision. After a thorough analysis of the subject, it is clear
that there are a few drawbacks to this, but if an individual has the skills required to
balance work and study, there would be no harm in acquiring a part-time job.

Best place to spend a summer holiday
I haven't been on a vacation for at least 3 years, and I’m already feeling
exhausted and eager to hit the road. The reason for this gap is, obviously, COVID-
19. Because the world has been completely shut down for the last two years, I've
mostly stayed at work, daydreaming about some idyllic beach location. Anyway, I’ll
tell you about my last vacation in Thailand.

I visited Thailand in the autumn three years ago. Me and three friends
prepared and spent about 10 days traveling around Thailand and visiting two main
cities: Chiang Mai and Pattaya. I will focus my story on the city of Chiang
Mai, as that place completely blew my mind. I have to say I had some of the
most amazing moments of my life over there, and that is not an exaggeration.

Thailand is usually well known for its beach resorts and seaside

vacations; however, Chieng Mai is exactly the opposite. It is located inside the
country, and it is an animal sanctuary. I was shocked by how many zoos and animal
parks the place had. We stayed for three nights in the city, and it was an awesome
experience. We visited a few animal attractions, like a Night Safari Zoo, where
you hop on a train at night and feed all sorts of exotic animals. This was a fantastic
experience. Another thing I did was visit a tiger petting zoo and a tiger show. I had
no idea tigers could become pets, literally hugging and kissing people as they passed.
But the highlight of my whole trip was my experience taking care of elephants. I
spent a whole day at an elephant sanctuary, feeding, bathing, mudding, walking, and
playing with elephants. This was the best experience I’ve ever had in my whole
life, and I’d definitely return to do it again.

Thailand was always familiar to me, but after visiting it, I was completely
reintroduced to it. The clean streets, the insanely cheap cost of living (everything
was two or three times cheaper than any other country I’ve visited), the fantastic
food, and the friendly and warm people made me appreciate the country and
even start planning many future visits. I can’t wait to go there again.

Travelling has many benefits
Travelling has become more economical and easy today than compared to the
older days. In the earlier period, making a travel plan itself used to be a tedious task
as it was dependent on many factors such as setting up a budget, arrangement of
various bookings and so on.

Today, people are travelling more than ever before due to easy connectivity and
reach of distant places. Moreover, people have more flexible jobs. So, they can take
out time from their busy lives and just spend weekends going to some nearby tourist
places. Travelling has also become more affordable due to entry of many
multinationals in the country and also mainly due to the reason of too much of
competition. So, everyone tries to give a better deal to the customer either by
offering discounts or by giving an “all in all” customized package.

Besides the above points, people have also become more open minded in terms
of exploring new places. They are willing to spend money and time to visit their
favourite destination.

When you go, you may even question your own beliefs about lesser-known
places and cultures. Discovering new cultures can also help you see issues and
challenges in your daily life in a different light. Traveling fosters empathy and a
greater understanding of other cultures. Being more understanding and tolerant of
cultures other than our own is part of becoming smarter. "The world is a book, and
those who do not travel read only one page." Eating local food in a new country is an
entirely new experience. All the flavours are different. Traveling forces you to step
outside of your comfort zone. New stimuli assault all of your senses. You encounter
new landscapes and vivid colors. You hear new music, and people speak in an
unknown language in the thoroughfares, which are filled with new scents. The aroma
and flavour of new food... When you get back home, you can use all of your new
stimuli and creativity to come up with new ideas for your job! In the meantime,
you're learning a lot about a new way of life and a new culture. You might even meet
new people and expand your real-life social network. Traveling helps test your limits
and takes you out of your comfort zone; it often forces you to deal with change and
uncertainty. The new challenges you face help you understand your strengths and
weaknesses. No matter how insignificant it may appear, the fact that you had an out-
of-the-ordinary experience abroad creates a memory that you will remember for a
long time.

To sum up, people take out time around different places big or small, luxurious
or not and find our own space in this world.

My favourite childhood
memory
Memories tend to become hazy and difficult to recollect as we grow older. It is
tough to remember all the intricate details of your childhood and school life after a
certain age. However, certain moments and experiences in our lives tend to linger on
for many years. The nature of these memories can be happy, exciting, and sometimes
even traumatic. One such memory that is etched in my mind for eternity is when I
almost slipped and fell on the railway tracks.
This incident happened during my early teenage years when I traveled on trains
quite a lot. I was around 14 or 15 years old, and I used to take piano lessons at a
piano club in the central part of my city. The club was far away from my residence,
and I had to take a local bus to the club. My grandmother used to accompany me on
these weekly trips. One such day, she came to pick me up from piano practice. After
my training session, I walked back with my grandmother to the bus station, which
was within walking distance of the piano club. After we reached the station, my
grandmother took a seat, and I went head playing on the platform. After going some
distance ahead, I noticed that a bus was approaching the station. In a sudden frenzy, I
ran toward my grandmother in fear of missing the bus. As I paced through the empty
platform, I slipped on some spilled water right by the edge of the platform. Everyone
gathered around me to pull me away from the edge, and I remember my grandmother
bursting into tears at the sight of my near-death experience.
This incident instilled a deep fear of bus stations and buses in my mind. Even
today, sometimes, I have nightmares about this occurrence, and it leaves me feeling
petrified. Although I have overcome my fear and do not face any major issues
traveling on bus, nevertheless I tend to be extra careful in this mode of transport.

A mistake that taught me an important lesson
No one wants to talk about his mistakes and it seems like the human
psychology is prone to forget blunders and remember good things in life. But some
mistakes are hard to forget and have severe consequences in life. I, too, as an
ordinary human try to learn from my mistakes, forget them most of the time and go
ahead with my dreams to do something remarkable in my life. I would like to thank
you for this cue card topic that expects me to talk about a mistake I have made in my
life.

The biggest mistake in my life was falling in love with the wrong boy who had
a completely different view of life, love and relationship. I was hardly 17 years old
when I fall hard for this boy.

Initially, we were classmates and then became friends. In a year I started to feel
something about him that was quite extraordinary and hard to explain. I guess people
call this 'love'. My whole world started to shift and I was surrounded by a mirage for
this whole time. Not a single moment had passed when I didn't think about him. He
was the centre and power source of my universe. When he proposed me, I expressed
my boundless joys and acted as if he should have proposed me earlier. So far, this is
a sweet and innocent love story of a teenager and I was happy to have him in my life.

However, it took me only a few months to realise that he was not serious about
our relationship. When he was my whole world, I was him just another temporary
girlfriend. The relationship ended in ten months and I was so broken-hearted that I
could not concentrate on anything for a while. My parents also knew about it and
they were very supportive of me. First few days, it was quite difficult for me to get
back to my normal life, study or go outside. I simply could not appease my mind that
I made a great mistake and it was like an illusion that I need to come out from soon.
However, when I started realising that I made a big mistake by approaching a serious
relationship without even knowing the boy genuinely, I started making peace with
my mind. I was completely honest with myself and that eventually helped me to get
out of the depressive time I went through at that time.

The lesson learned from this mistake made me more cautious about making any
kind of relationship and I am happy that I took this mistake as an event to learn a
lesson. However, I often feel bad that how someone could be so naive to play with
someone's sentiment so cheaply.

A difficult decision I had to make
I have to say that I’ve never been good at decision-making. I frequently have to
rack my brains trying to figure out what to do and what not to do, which frequently
puts me in a bind. Today I would like to talk about the time when I had to decide
whether to buy a new phone when I was living on a tight budget.

Back when I was away from home for college, I did not have that much money
to spend, so I tried not to splurge on anything that was unnecessary. During those
years, I did not ask my parents for pocket money as I wanted to lead a financially
independent life. I did have a part-time job as an English tutor, but the money was
just enough to get my belly fueled with enough nutrition every day.

However, things did not always go as planned, as my phone was gradually

getting slower, causing me a lot of difficulties in my work and studies.
Being strapped for cash, I was in two minds as to whether I should purchase a new
phone, which also means I have to struggle to make ends meet. It took me nearly a
month of tossing and turning because that new iPhone cost me my entire three-
month salary. I kept telling myself how inconvenient my life would be without a
properly functioning phone, but I hesitated again when I realized I'd have to survive
on instant noodles for the next few months.

I was in a relentless internal battle before making up my mind to get that iPhone

with all my savings. Though I was deliriously happy holding the new hi-tech device
in my hands, I had to get one more part-time job as a Math tutor on the weekends to
earn some extra money. When I reflected on that story, I couldn't figure out how I
got through such a difficult time. But I guess adversity brings out the best in me, as I
learned how to deal with financial issues on my own without asking anyone for help.

11
The first time I went to school
It was the only school in town back then, so it was named accordingly. My
hometown is kind of like a small valley, and the school was built in the centre while
my house was on the hillside. It was a long journey to school every day, but some
houses were along the way, so I had some company for most parts. my friends.

I was a pupil there between the ages of 6 and 10 before my whole family
moved to Thanh Hoa city to live with our grandparents. I heard that after we moved
away for a few years, the original school was demolished and relocated to a new area
across the town. Everything is now brand new, and I almost didn’t recognise it when
I got back to the town for the first time two years ago. The people back then were all
I could remember about this place. It was such a fun time going to school every day.

My friends and I were all very mischievous, so we always had something to

play with, either with each other or with other people, which got us into a lot of
trouble. But our teacher rarely punished us for any of those; she was very kind and
gentle with us. She taught arts and always had some interesting stories to tell the
students during the lessons, which inspired me a lot to choose arts as my major in
university later on.

The school was my first time for everything: my first achievements and prizes,
my first time standing on stage, and my first friends. And as I have just said, it is
more about the people than the actual place. We have made some wonderful
memories together, leaving our imprints all over town. I don’t think I could ever
forget such an amazing time. All of them are like my second family; we still keep in
contact and hang out with each other occasionally to talk about the good old days.

12
A bad time when I was stressed out
There are many stressful days I remember from University as well as from work
and out of those, I would like to talk about a stressful day at my work. It was a
project deadline that we were supposed to deliver before the Christmas holiday. It
was due at 15th December a years back and we were in a good ground to deliver the
task to the client. It was a major client of our company and the project was a crucial
one for the client as well.

We were 8 people involved in this project and on 12th December we revised the
project and found that we need to review only before sending the final version of the
software application. Next two days were days off and all of a sudden I got a call
from my office that something went wrong regarding the project and the software
was not running as expected. I came to the office at around 9.00 am on Saturday and
found other members had already come or on their way to my office.

Initially, we thought that there would be few bugs on our code and that should
not take more than 2-3 hours for us to fix them. But to our surprise, we found that
the code is a mess and nothing is in order. We started revising the code and found
that some of the files had been overridden by newer files which were completely
empty. We felt like the sky had just fallen down on our heads and we are in the
middle of a deserted area. We all looked at the project manager who was busy
talking to the product owner and could guess the hot conversation.

I found some of my files were missing from the project and the backup system
was not working. We spent 2-3 hours discussing the situation and tried to find out
what should we do. The project manager explained we have no other choice but to
work on the missing files all again to make it work.

I was very tired and was getting calls from home to attend a family occasion. I
felt really helpless and could not be sure if I should leave for a few hours to attend
the family occasion or not. I explained to the project manager that I have to attend
the occasion and then I will get back to the office. He agreed and I ran home. From
there we went to a relative's house and again I came back to the office in the
afternoon. I found that things were as they were before I left office and everybody
became worried about the project.

We worked till 11.30 pm and then decide to let the client know the real
situation. We emailed the owner and then emailed to the client that, we would need a
few more days to finish the project. On that day when I returned home at around
12:45 am, I felt very stressed and tired. I wished the next day would be different.

We had to work quite hard for the next few days to make things right. And most
surprisingly we had been able to deliver the project to the client on 20th December.
Though it made some trouble to the client, he was so understanding and cooperative
that he did not complain about it and appreciated us for the hard work.

13
An achievement that made me proud of myself
Before joining as a part-time English teacher at a local school in Thanh Hóa, I
was afraid of public speaking. I felt a bit embarrassed to speak in front of the
audience and it constantly irritated me. But now, I am a good public speaker or at
least I am no longer afraid to speak in public. I believe I have achieved the quality by
practising hundreds of times and by lecturing in front of my students in the class.

Overcoming the fear of public speaking is a great achievement for me especially

because of my career choice. When I was offered the position of a English teacher at
the primary school exactly a year ago, I was in no way comfortable about it but I
liked the idea of teaching young students. I thought about all the positive and
negative aspects of it and I decided that if I can overcome the fear of public
speaking, I could become a great teacher.

It took me at least 4 months of practice and another 2-3 months of teaching

experience to get comfortable speaking in front of others. Once I became
conformable about speaking in a class, I found that I was more fluent and natural in
teaching my students and the whole process took me no less than two years, I would
say.

The process of achieving it was far more difficult than I had anticipated. It took
countless hours of practice, many hours of frustration and hurdle to at last have it
conquered. The most difficult part was that when I thought I would be able to speak
in front of others because I have practised in front of a mirror the previous day,  I
found that I was unable to do so. The experience was so heart-breaking that I often
thought of abandoning it completely. It was utterly frustrating because when I
thought I would be able to do something, the next moment I found that I will have to
start from ground zero!

I am proud of this achievement because I can speak freely anywhere and at any
time. Now, I am confident and can discuss even complex issues. Since teaching is
the profession I have chosen, I need to speak in public on various occasions and
lecture in a class full of students every day. Besides, what could be more frustrating
than not being able to explain something to my students when I am paid for that! So
I consider it a great achievement.

Causes of stress in our modern life
People are forced to work harder and for longer hours to save their jobs in
today's fast-paced world. The professional and social competitions have skyrocketed,
and so have the stress-related issues. Our attitude, high competition everywhere, and
the very nature of our jobs demand more of us, and as a result, we are suffering from
stress-related illness. Our attitude towards life and self-contentment could be the
answer to this problem.

The ever-changing and challenging job environment, the rat race in the job
market, frequent deadlines, lengthy working hours, monthly targets, and frequent
meetings keep us on our toes. We are in constant fear that the employer would pick
someone else and we would not be promoted unless we excelled in our jobs.
Furthermore, technology changes rapidly, which makes the existing skill sets
obsolete and forces people to take on more pressure to learn the new technologies.
Income and job-related uncertainties are two major pressures on professionals, and
ambitious and achievement-oriented people thus suffer from stress-related issues.

Besides, the ever-increasing population in the city puts more pressure on our
immediate environment and resources. As resources become scarce, they also
become more expensive, which adds more pressure on the already struggling
citizens. The growing intricacies of the modern world are compounded by the
change in lifestyle and our expectations, which permeate all aspects of our lives and
thus make them more complex. We will never be able to appreciate the beauty of life
and overcome stress-related problems if we do not know when to stop and when to
relax.

To solve this problem, we must change our attitude toward life. Life is not about
running after money and promotion, and occasionally, we must take breaks. If we
know what causes our stress and start living a healthy life as much as possible, we
will have a better lifestyle. On the employers' end, there should be some initiatives
for reducing stress at the workplace. Moreover, spending quality time with family
members and with people we care about is another good way to fight stress. Above
all, we must learn to lead a contented life with whatever we have. This is the mantra
of a stress-free life.

In conclusion, we have got only one life, and if we let the intricacies of the
modern world eat it up, we would be the greatest fools in history. To compete in a
competitive and demanding job environment, we must be content with little and
spend quality time with family members.

15
Effects of choosing the wrong friends
Friends are supposed to be good for you. But not all friends have such a
salutary effect. Some are toxic and stressful. A bad friend can be many things, but,
typically, they lead to mental and emotional fatigue or a lack of general well-being.

A bad friend is someone who is stressful or exhausting to be around. They may be

overly competitive with you, likely to encourage bad behaviors, unreliable, combative,
rude, mean or degrading, prone to gossip, likely to bully you or others. There is a broad
range of the types of toxic friendships you may experience. Some examples include: the
selfish, the overly critical, the overstepping, the competitive, the victim.

16
Causes and effects of being overweight
As the prevalence of overweight among people is increasing at an alarming rate,
affecting low- and middle-income countries the most, mankind's obesity has come to
be seen as one of the most serious public health challenges of the 21st century. It is
felt that this disturbing trend mainly comes as a result of modern
lifestyles. Alarmingly, unless measures are taken to curb the swelling obesity
rate, the consequences might be dire.

It has long been recognized by general practitioners that lifestyle issues—poor

eating habits and a lack of physical activity—are the main contributors to human
obesity. Indeed, numerous studies link regular consumption of high-fat, high-
sugar foods to weight gain. These include fast foods, baked and deep-fried goods,
and vending machine snacks, which are readily available on the street and highly
affordable, making them a popular go-to choice among people. Not to mention that
people nowadays spend significantly more time in sedentary activities than previous
generations. As a result, they do not burn off the calories from the food they
consume. This is corroborated by research such as that conducted by the American
Academy of Pediatrics, which reaffirmed that people who are less physically active
are more likely to become overweight than their peers who engage in
regular exercise.

What makes mankind's obesity particularly troubling are the dire

consequences that it can entail. The extra pounds often start children on the path to
health issues that used to be considered adult problems, including but not limited
to diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol. This, in turn, can shorten the
life spans of the current generation, a concern that has been frequently voiced in the
United States after similar claims were made in The New England Journal of
Medicine. Moreover, research indicates that children and adolescents who carry too
many extra pounds often suffer from low self-esteem and depression. Indeed, there is
evidence to suggest that overweight people are more likely to be teased, bullied,
ridiculed by their peers, and excluded from friendship groups. As a result, such
people tend to have less confidence in their social skills and appearance and have a
more negative self-image than their normal-weight peers. Therefore, extra
pounds are a health and emotional hazard.

To conclude, human beings’ obesity, which partially results from poor lifestyle

and nutrition choices, is an alarming trend since overweight people are prone to
incurable chronic diseases and low self-esteem. Thus, unless the multiple factors that
contribute to an obesogenic world are addressed, global life expectancy and quality
of life are likely to decline.

17
Causes and effect of students cheating on tests
Cheating in exam is
happening at an alarming
rate in many schools today,
it is
unfair behavior and against
the school’s rule. So, what
are the reasons for
cheating in exams?
Fear of failing is the most
important reason for some
students to cheat in exams.
Some students think that if
they fail the exams, they
will have a lot of the
18
following problems. For
example, their parents will
complain them about bad
grades, their friends will
look down and laugh at
them, and they guess that
the
light of their educational
futures will be darker too.
They will get stressed if
they cannot do the exams as
well as they hope. And
those factors will lead them

19
to cheat in exams. In short,
some students are afraid
that they will have many
problems if they fail the
exams, so they start to
cheat.
Having no ability to do
exams is the next reason
that causes some students
cheating. There are a few
cases for this reason. Some
students do not have their
own self-confidences. Some
students cannot do the
exams because they are too

Cheating in exam is
happening at an alarming
rate in many schools today,
it is
unfair behavior and against
the school’s rule. So, what
are the reasons for
cheating in exams?
24
Fear of failing is the most
important reason for some
students to cheat in exams.
Some students think that if
they fail the exams, they
will have a lot of the
following problems. For
example, their parents will
complain them about bad
grades, their friends will
look down and laugh at
them, and they guess that
the

25
light of their educational
futures will be darker too.
They will get stressed if
they cannot do the exams as
well as they hope. And
those factors will lead them
to cheat in exams. In short,
some students are afraid
that they will have many
problems if they fail the
exams, so they start to
cheat.
Having no ability to do
exams is the next reason
that causes some students
26
cheating. There are a few
cases for this reason. Some
students do not have their
own self-confidences. Some
students cannot do the
exams because they are too
difficult. And some students

Every action has a consequence, whether it is good or bad. The choices you
make can follow you the rest of your life. Cheating is an issue that affects many
students at one time or another throughout their education. There are many different
ways to cheat: copying homework, looking over at a peers test, plagiarizing, and so
on. Nothing good comes from cheating your way through school, the only person
you are cheating is yourself.

30
There are serious consequences for cheating. Every teacher has different ways of
punishing their students. Some teachers are hard on their students and give them the
maximum punishment they can give them. However, as i’ve witnessed teachers are
surprisingly lenient on their students. Many just give them a warning or make them
retake the test. The problem with teachers doing this is that the students never really
learn their lesson. It enables them to cheat more, if they know they won’t have
serious consequences for their actions, they will be more willing to try to test their
luck. Cheating is most likely to occur in students who lack effort in their studies.
Students who do not attend class or do not study are not likely to get passed on their
own. Therefore, they find cheating to be a good and easy way for them to pass.
Nothing can be gained by cheating. Of course, a better grade may be given, but they
are not learning anything by stealing somebody’s hard work. The cheater may be
passing the class with a great grade, but where will the cheater be when the finals
come around and they no longer have a way to cheat.

Cheating can result in a tragic cycle. Once you start it is hard to stop. A person
may believe that they are benefiting themselves by cheating to receive a better grade.
They put off studying and never really learn the material. At the same time they are
doing well in the class. Many people may not see what the problem would be, less
work and good grades. What’s to complain about! However, this cannot continue
forever. It will catch up to you and you will regret it. When it comes time for you to
know the material, you will have to learn from the beginning or receive an
unsatisfactory grade. Even if you manage to get a good grade, it cannot make you
feel good knowing you did not earn it.

There is going to come a time in your life when you are going to need to put
what you learned in school to use in real life. If you did not do the work, you will not
be able to do this. In college they are to prepare you for your career. If you plan on
cheating your way through college you may want to rethink your game plan.
Imagine a surgeon cheating his way through school and not really learning what was
necessary to perform his job. Would you feel comfortable having this doctor operate
on you? There are more things at stake than good grades. You have to think of your
future and the person you want to be. Nothing in life comes easy, if you want to
make it you are going to have to work at it. There is no reason you should be
rewarded for cheating your way through school. It is always better in the long haul to
be honest and do your own work. Once you make doing your own work a habit it
will become easier. It will also build your self-esteem. Having that pride when you
graduate will be one of the best feelings in your life. You can think to yourself that
you did this, it wasn’t because of anyone else, it was all you. All those late nights of
studying and group study sessions have paid off. You know that you are able to set a
goal for yourself and find the strength within you to accomplish this goal. If you are
able to do this, you are capable of so much more. Your future will be bright. When
looking for a job when you are older, employers look for certain qualities. They look
for a good work ethic, someone with good leadership qualities and, someone who
isn’t lazy but who is willing to do what is needed to be done to finish the job. You

31
will have more confidence going into an interview if you are well qualified for the
job.

Nothing good comes from cheating. It may trick you in the short hall but you
need to have the strength to do the right thing. You need to be more concerned with
your future, and less concerned with cheating your way through a class just so you
have more free time. Today’s generation will never succeed if they do not learn to
take responsibility. We are truly blessed to be given a proper education, many
countries are not as fortunate as us. In a way Americans have become spoiled and
have taken their education for granted. They do not view it as being important. We
need to look at other nations, and realize what they would give up just to be able to
learn like we do. We need to get back to a place where we are thirsting for
knowledge and not just doing the bare minimum to get by.

Over all, the consequences of cheating vary greatly, from being dealt with on a
serious level or to just have to live with knowing deep down inside that what you
have done is wrong. Some say cheating is not wrong unless the person gets caught,
but cheating is no different than stealing, and stealing is wrong no matter what. I
think everyone would admit that. As an individual you must take pride in yourself
and do your own work. It is your life and you should want to be the best you can be.
Cheating in the short run will only hurt you in the future.

Causes and effects of environmental pollution
Talking about the cause and result of the phenomenon (pollution) has been a trend
for ages, which one day may not result in greater disaster. Taking deforestation as a
relevant example, people have been cutting down trees for residential areas to
accommodate the growing population. The cause appears to be population growth,
but as a result, wildlife is being pushed out of its natural habitat, some species have
become rare, and some have even become extinct.

Pollution refers to the state of contamination in the natural environment

resulting from human actions. The degradation of the original quality of the natural
environment and its aspects is pollution. The adverse changes made in the
environment are mostly caused by human action and their initiative, whereas the
effect is what comes upon the living organisms on earth. Pollution is a state born of
actions that have threatened the lives of living beings on earth as a consequence.

The major causes of pollution have been population growth, unmanaged

urbanization, and industrialization. The growing population required more
settlements and food production. Most of the settlement area has been taken from
forest areas. To make settlement areas for humans, the common habitat for wildlife
has been neglected, and then the settlement is done by eliminating forest and
greenery.

Deforestation is likely to happen due to this, which consequently affects the

water level on earth, the environment, and fresh air.

The number of industries that use the byproducts of deforestation to meet

human needs is growing. The growth in industries employs a growing population and
hands them money to run their lives, but in fact, they use non-renewable resources,
fossil fuels from the earth, to operate their machines. The industries throw the waste
back into the environment, which degrades the quality and does not support good
food production for consumption by humans and wildlife. Industrial waste is
released into the atmosphere, where it pollutes the air's actual composition and
causes breathing problems in living beings.Poor waste disposal increases the risk to
human life by promoting the growth of unhealthy organisms in the environment.

In the absence of trees, floods and landslides have become a common

phenomenon every year during the season of rainfall. Due to fewer trees, the air we
breathe is not adequately filtered, and we are compelled to breathe in the filthy air,
which causes breathing problems, bronchitis, skin diseases, and so on.

In addition to this, awareness and alertness are crucial elements in reducing

pollution. When we are unaware of the consequences of our actions, we keep
ourselves on the edge of the knife. Planned urbanization and separate industrial areas
have to be created. Humans must be alert about their activities to avoid negative
consequences that pose a threat to life on earth. The family size must be appropriate
in order to avoid poor living conditions and maintain a standard of living by meeting
36
basic needs such as education and health. In this way, threats and causes of disease
can be identified, and the educated manpower can work together to create
environmentally friendly development by utilizing perpetual resources instead of
non-renewable ones.

As the saying goes, "a stitch in time saves nine,", the educated people have to
emphasize the adoption of eco-friendly development actions by minimizing the use
of fossil fuels, plastics, and non-degradable garbage in the environment. The sense of
protection and promotion has to flourish by relating them to the earth as well as
wildlife and rare species. The threats to the planet have to be identified before
waiting for the consequences to happen. The maintenance of the natural green
environment benefits mankind as well as other living species. In the absence of
precautions and caring for the environment, the earth could not be a better place to
live.

Causes and effects of having unhealthy diets
The number of people who follow an unhealthy diet and sedentary lifestyle is on
the rise. This can be attributed to the hectic lifestyle that most people lead these days.
Creating health awareness and promoting work-life balance are the most effective
ways to improve the situation.

Most people are busy these days. They do not have time to cook proper meals at
home. For example, in most families now both spouses work and they often depend
on packaged meals. Unfortunately, these meals are deficient in nutrition. They also
contain various preservatives and additives that increase their taste and shelf life.
The problem is that these chemicals are harmful to health. Long working hours also
sap people of their energy and when they are back home at night, they do not have
the inclination to work out. At home, people have access to various appliances that
eliminate the need for physical labour. At office, people refuse to even walk to the
next cubicle and instead use the intercom. They take the elevator instead of the stairs
and use their vehicle to travel even short distances. Thus, excessive dependence on
labour saving technology and busy schedules are the main reasons for the unhealthy
eating and living habits of people.

Creating awareness about the harmful consequences of the sedentary lifestyle

and dependence on junk food will go a long way in improving the situation. Many
people are still unaware of the health consequences of an inactive lifestyle.
Employers can encourage employees to get physically active by installing workout
facilities in the office. In addition, the government should regulate working hours to
ensure that people can find a balance between work and life. People also need to
realize that they are what they eat. If they nourish their body with essential nutrients,
they will get to live a long and productive life.  By contrast, if they are subsisting on
junk food, they will discover the consequences before long.

In conclusion, people are following an unhealthy diet and sedentary lifestyle

because they are tired after a long working day and do not have time to cook proper
meals at home. Creating health awareness among people, promoting work-life
balance and building more sports centres will improve the situation.
