ARGUMENTATIVE ESSAY

“CHOOSING PRACTICALITY OVER PASSION”

Pursuing a career of passion may help many students be smarter in their program of interest. Students will
likely find more motivation when completing tasks. Another topic of importance that drives us to consider this
option more, is mental health. Have you ever asked a random student about their course? Many students
believe that choosing the practical course is the best decision to make because it gives more opportunities in
the future. A famous phrase often contradicts this idea, “do what you love and love what you do.” However,
while students struggle in choosing their program may lead to choosing the wrong future and can give them
stress through their whole journey, it is argued here that students need to be aware that there are many ways
that practicality can in fact hinder their academic performance in school, though there are advantages that the
practical course have that can make their studying easier and can also use to reduce the stress and negativities
to help the students have a positive mindset.

Aside from the practical program choice they have, there are other different programs that they can choose
from depends on how financially stable they are and on how enhanced their learning capabilities are but some
of these types of programs can have inherently negative effects. For example, any stressful school works that
is given by the teachers in a specific subject resulting from the practical program they choose might affect their
academic performance because they lack knowledge and interest. Other Aspects of practicality, such as skills
related, in knowledge, and in time management skills, can also negatively affect a student’s academic
performance. Having too many options to choose from can, for example, cause confusion and pressure on
what they want to pursue and so obstruct their decision-making process. This is especially likely to be a
problem when the student has a limited knowledge about the program. The program mentioned can also
cause problems if the student has difficulty understanding the different topics.

Given all the above-mentioned problems associated with the practical program, are there strategies and events
that the program can implement to reduce the potential negatives and enhance the potential positives?
Regarding to the difficulty of understanding the different topics, the students need to be given an adequate
amount of time to complete their tasks. Group works or collaborations can also be used to improve their
communication and social skills and overcome the negative impacts of the chosen program because of the
subjects and topics that is not related with their interest. And since choosing the practical course causes a lot
of stress in a student, they need someone to guide them through their journey. And since too much pressure
can cause confusion and struggle in choosing their desired course, the students needed to generate the best
thinking in order to make the best decision for themselves.

In conclusion, it shows that if the students wish to create a better future for themselves, to have an exciting
college journey, and to have a happy life, they should choose the right program to pursue because that’s when
life really starts. If they wish to be happy and do things that they love, they should pursue their dream course,
but if they want to have a stable job and have a secure future, they can choose to be practical. They should
further aim to enhance their skills as possible so as to develop their experience more for them to have easier
decision-making. Unless students want to have a practical life, the safest option, the most secure would be the
one that offers a stable and higher income.
