Reflection on the Film: Jose Rizal 1998

Not all heroes use strength to fight. In the film, Jose Rizal 1998 shows that a hero could
not use their strength but can still be more powerful than those who use their strengths and
can even influence thousands of people. The film presented Rizal's life from his early childhood,
education, and his journey up to his execution. The production of the film and the story telling
of his life is very understandable. You can tell that even the national hero that we respect the
most has this personality we didn't expect. The film accurately portrays the roles of each
individual in the life of Rizal. His life that goes through ups and downs, hardships, and hard
work were shown in the film and even comprehend it even more than I read it.

I haven't read the whole life of Rizal, not even his two novels, however based on what I
have heard from some classmates and peers, it was accurately represented in the movie. In the
film, it shows that Rizal didn't use his strength to fight against the oppressor, but only his mind,
paper, and pen. However, without using his strength, he influences thousands of people in the
country which even led him to form associations that advocate for freedom, policy changes in
the country, and equal rights for both the Spaniards and Filipino citizens.. It was fascinating to
know that the hero we knew and we respect is more respectable than he actually is. How can a
man fight without even raising his arms with strength? He may have raised his arm and hand,
but gracefully as he wrote every word with his eagerness to fight the oppressor and help his
fellow Filipinos who are suffering from this superiority.

What makes Rizal the most respected hero in the country? This question may linger in your
mind once, twice, or even multiple times. Asking yourself before and now finding out the
answer after watching this film. Rizal is really the most respectable hero I’ve ever known. His
elegance and love for his fellow Filipinos led him to death, but the bullet has never affected his
love for freedom. To be called a National Hero suits him well.
