Q. 1. Make a temporary potato osmoscope to study osmosis. Sketch and label

the diagram showing the change in the water level. 4 mks
3

OR
Q. 1. Make a temporary slide to study plasmolysis. Sketch and label the
diagram. 4 mks
A) Preparation of slide to show plasmolysis - 2 mks

B) Diagram of the plasmolysed cell – 1 mk

C) Observation and inference – 1 mk

Dig : Plasmolysed cell

Observations :

It is observed that, there is shrinkage of cytoplasm which moves away from the
cell wall. It becomes concentrated to the corner of the cell wall. This is called
plasmolysis.

OR
Q. 1. Make a temporary mount of leaf epidermis to study the structure and
distribution of stomata. Sketch and label structural apparatus. 4 mks

A) Preparation of slide to show stomata - 2 mks

B) Diagram of the stomata with label – 1 mk

C) Observations – 1 mk

Fig : Dicot Stomata

Observations :
1. Under the microscope, The peel of leaf shows large number of stomata which
is surrounded by epidermal cells.

2. Stomata shows two guard cells which are in kidney shaped. It encloses small
opening called stomatal opening.

3. Stomata play an important role in transpiration.
