These models serve as roadmaps for creating effective learning experiences,


whether in traditional classrooms or online environments. The Addie Model is like a
recipe for cooking up great learning experiences. It's made up of five main steps:
Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation (Onguko et al., 2013).
Think of it as a journey where you first figure out what you need to teach (Analysis),
then plan how to teach it (Design), followed by actually creating the learning materials
(Development), putting them into action (Implementation), and finally, checking to see if
everything worked out as planned (Evaluation) (Quigley, 2019). One cool thing about
Addie is that it encourages you to keep tweaking and improving your teaching method
along the way.

Gagne's Nine Events is another approach to designing learning experiences,


kind of like a blueprint for building a house. It's based on the idea that there are specific
steps you should follow to make sure people learn stuff effectively. These steps include
things like grabbing the learner's attention, telling them what they're going to learn,
showing them how to do it, giving them a chance to practice, and so on (Ullah et al.,
2015). Each step is like a brick in the wall of learning, building upon the last one to
create a solid understanding. These models, I couldn't help but notice how they
complement each other. Addie provides a structured framework for the overall process
of instructional design, while Gagne's Nine Events zooms in on the specific strategies
for engaging learners and facilitating learning. It's like Addie sets the stage, and
Gagne's Events steal the show, making sure the audience stays captivated and leaves
with something valuable.

Studying these instructional design models has given me a deeper appreciation


for the thought and effort that goes into creating effective learning experiences. By
understanding the principles behind Addie and Gagne's approaches, I feel better
equipped to design engaging and impactful learning materials in the future. Just like
following a recipe or building a house, instructional design is all about following the right
steps and paying attention to the details.
