We came to your office today to ask you to attend the 2024 Nehemiah Action Assembly. This is an
opportunity for you to speak to 1,000 people who are concerned about our community. It’s also an
opportunity to listen to our community and those who are feeling pain and grief from violence. We are
particularly concerned about the high number of murders in Jacksonville and want to discuss how our
city can prevent future violence.
We will begin at 7:00pm on Monday, April 15 at Abyssinia Missionary Baptist Church (10325 Interstate
Center Dr., Jacksonville, FL 32218). At the Nehemiah Assembly, we also will ask you the questions listed
below. We ask that you answer yes or no to the following questions. After your response, we will give
you three minutes to address the audience.
1. Will you meet with representatives from ICARE twice a year to discuss important problems in our
community?
2. Will you contract with the National Network for Safe Communities to assess Jacksonville’s GVI
program?
3. Will you attend the Community Problems Assembly on October 28, 2024, to update us on your
progress?
To keep us on time, there will be a microphone holder. We ask that you respect their position in holding
the microphone during this agenda item. We will have a timekeeper on the floor that will hold up a sign
when you are out of time. We will also have a member of our team waiting to greet you at the front
door of the church.
Sincerely,
ICARE Co-President Monsignor James Boddie of Christ the King Catholic Church
ICARE Co-President Father Keith Oglesby of Christ Episcopal Church
ICARE Vice-President Hazzan Jesse Holzer of Jacksonville Jewish Center
ICARE Treasurer Geneva Pittman of St. Paul AME
ICARE Secretary Rev. Adam Gray of Riverside Church at Park and King
