B. MOTIVATION

Activity Title: LAST MAN STANDING (group work)


Materials: Tape, Printed Materials, and Bond Paper
Procedure: DIRECTIONS: For this activity, the students will be
divided into 4 groups. Wherein they will be given
jumbled words to fix, after that they will give insights
about the word they have formed. The teacher will be
giving the students 10 minutes to finish the activity.

C. LESSON PROPER

 Does anyone already know that what badminton is? Or does anyone have any idea what
is badminton all about?
 The objective of the game is to hit the shuttle cock with a racket over a net 5 ft. high at is
center with speed and accuracy, which the opponent is unable to return the shot
successfully.
 Where does it originate from? Any guess?
 The old badminton game is named as battledore using a bat or paddle.
 There some document that badminton originated in Asia and Europe.
 Over 2,000 years ago – originated in Sian, China.
 1600’s brought to England
 1800’s in India, badminton was called “Poona” where the net was used.
 1929 – arrive in America
 1992 – badminton started as an Olympics sport in Barcelona, after it has
been made as demonstration sport in Munich 1972.
 Can anyone tell me what is the equipment used in playing badminton?
(The teacher will introduce the equipment used in playing badminton.)

A. Racket – parts of the racket include the head, throat/neck, shaft and handle.
B. Shuttle Cock also called “shuttle or birdie.”
 Two Types
o Feather “16 feather” used for professionals
o Synthetic “plastic” used for amateur.

C. Net – a west net used to divide the badminton court in two sides 5.1 ft. “height”
length.
 Depends singles or double playing:
o Single – 17 ft.
o Double – 22 ft.
 Can anyone of you describe what clear shot is?
(The teacher will discuss the basic skills of badminton.)
 Clear shot is to dive your opponent away from the net or forecourt or to slow
the game.”
 What is a smash?
 An attacking shot made at the limit one’s upward reach of slightly in front of
the shoulder.
 How do you describe drop shot?
 Any shots played drops immediately after crossing the net.
 Can anyone of you describe what is net shot?
 Any shots played as near to the net as possible, controlled by wrist or
forearm.

E. Application
 DIRECTIONS: For this activity, the students will be divided into 4 groups. Wherein
they will have a game that includes performing the basic skill of badminton, and
picking and naming the correct equipment’s and its parts. Each group will pick a
piece of paper, if they pick a paper with a skill on it then they will try to execute the
basic skill. If they pick a paper pertaining an equipment, they must pick it correctly
and identify the parts. They will have 10 seconds to demonstrate and 15 seconds to
pick and identify.

EXAMPLE: If group 1 pick the skill smash, they should go fast where the equipment’s
are laying and then perform the skill properly. Or, If they pick the equipment
shuttlecock, they must be fast and must pick the right equipment and can name all
its part.

b. IDENTIFICATION.
