Reference Equipment Required

1m Steel Rule
Vernier Caliper
Straight Edge
Feeler gauges

Form Required: CW325 Slump-Flow Baseplate

1. Slump-Flow baseplates will be checked for accuracy every six months from the date of the first
use following the most recent calibration.

2. The surface of the baseplate must be smooth, with no build-up of concrete and not liable to
rusting.

3. Check that the baseplate is made of flat steel, without any joints or welds and record.

4. Measure the baseplate length and width with the steel rule in three locations at either edge and
the centre with the 1m steel rule and record.

5. Check the baseplate for flatness with the straight edge and steel rule/feeler gauges as per
sketch below, recording the maximum deviation in mm.

6. Measure the inner circle with the steel rule and record and confirm whether the circle is in the
centre of the baseplate (as per fig 1).

7. Measure the outer circle with the steel rule and record and confirm whether the outer circle is in
the centre of the baseplate and coincides with the inner circle (as per fig1).

8. Check there is a scribed cross in the centre of the baseplate, of which the lines run parallel with
the sides of the plate.

9. Was the baseplate supplied/ordered in accordance with BS EN12350-8. Consult Laboratory

manager if unsure.

10. Measure and record the maximum scribed line width using the steel rule or vernier caliper.

11. Visually check that the scribe line depth is no deeper than 1mm and record.

12. Forms for use are appended. Each form identifies the type, serial number, location, specified
accuracy and the record of measurements of the calibration.
