Objectives of the study: Basic statistical evaluation of Hospital-stay data

The following data in the Tabe 2.11 below describes the hospital stay of the patients. There are a
total 8 variables both qualitative and quantitative. Enter the data set into SPSS and describe each
variable carefully.

After entering the data carefully into SPSS perform the following statistical evaluation.
1. Compute the descriptive statistics for each variable in Table 2.11 and explain the summary
statistics for each variable. (5 Points)
2. Construct the frequency distribution table for the First WBC following the admission
variable in Table 2.11 and describe the frequency distribution. (2 Points)
3. Present all variables in Table 2.11 with appropriate graphs and evaluate each graph in your
words. (5 Points)
4. Construct the confidence intervals for the quantitative variables in Table 2.11 and explain
each confidence interval in detail at levels of significance α 1% and 5%, also explain what
is the impact of different levels of significance on the confidence intervals. (5 Points)
5. Determine the correlation coefficient between “first temperature following admission” and
“first WBC following admission” and interpret the results. (3 Points)
