Costco Wholesale
2260 Islington Ave.
Toronto, ON M9W 3W8

Dear Hiring Manager,

I am ecstatic to learn that Costco is hiring for a Baker. As someone with a strong passion for baking, years of
experience with home baking, and who is currently enrolled in Humber College’s baking program, I am a perfect fit
for this role.

To begin, I am currently a student at Humber College in the Baking and Pastry Arts Management program. Within
this program, I have created a variety of cakes, cookies, pastries, and breads. I have prepared batters, frostings,
and fillings for baked goods. I have also used commercial equipment such as an industrial dough mixer, a
commercial dough cutter, and large planetary mixers. Furthermore, I have learned how to accurately adjust recipe
formulas for alternate yield. My education at Humber has provided me with a thorough experience in commercial
baking which will allow me to work effectively as a Baker at Costco.

Moreover, I have been baking at home for more than 10 years. My passion for baking started when I was young. I
began baking in middle school, occasionally at home, but also during class baking days where we would make
cakes and cookies. During high school, I took baking courses which gave me more professional baking experience
and knowledge. I often baked cakes and pastries at home to share with family and friends. These years of
experience will allow me to catch on to tasks quickly. I will dedicate my utmost effort to the tasks at hand, given my
deep passion for this field of work.

In addition, I have past work and volunteer experience that will allow me to work alongside others effectively. I have
worked in my high school’s restaurant in various roles such as cashier, waiter, and plater. These positions taught
me how to work in a fast-paced environment specifically in a kitchen. Furthermore, I have worked various
administrative roles in demanding environments. I have also worked alongside people of various age groups,
allowing me to develop excellent communication skills, and great customer service skills. Overall, I have the
competencies needed to provide amazing service to Costco members, while also working quickly and efficiently as
a Baker.

To conclude, I have what it takes to succeed in this position. I have years of experience baking, and a strong
passion for this line of work. Though my experience working in a professional bakery setting is limited, I believe I
have learned a lot as a student at Humber College. I am a quick learner, so I can easily settle into the position and
its expectations. I believe that I will be an extremely valuable addition to your organization.

Thank you in advance for your thoughtful consideration. I hope to hear from you soon with more information
regarding the human resource assistant.

Sincerely,

Tabassum Shaikh
