1. TVETA (Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority):
TVETA is responsible for the regulation, coordination, and quality assurance of technical and vocational education and training (TVET) in Kenya. It ensures that TVET institutions, programs, and trainers meet the required standards and guidelines. TVETA conducts accreditation, registration, and monitoring of TVET institutions to ensure they provide quality training. It develops and reviews curricula for TVET programs to align them with industry needs. TVETA promotes research and innovation in TVET and facilitates partnerships with industry for skills development. The authority plays a key role in promoting TVET as a viable career pathway and supporting the development of a skilled workforce in Kenya.
2.KNQA (Kenya National Qualifications Authority):
KNQA is responsible for the development and implementation of the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) in Kenya. It facilitates the recognition and equivalency of qualifications earned from various educational and training providers. KNQA ensures that qualifications are standardized and aligned with international best practices. It develops and maintains a database of qualifications and makes it accessible to stakeholders for verification and validation purposes. KNQA works to enhance the mobility and transferability of qualifications within and outside Kenya. The authority also plays a role in quality assurance and regulation of qualifications to maintain their credibility and relevance.
3. TVET Fund (Technical and Vocational Education and Training Fund):
TVET Fund is primarily responsible for financing the development of technical and vocational education and training in Kenya. It collects funds from various sources, including contributions from employers, and allocates these funds to TVET institutions. TVET Fund supports the improvement of infrastructure, equipment, and facilities in TVET institutions. It provides scholarships and bursaries to students pursuing TVET programs. The fund also supports research and innovation in TVET and fosters partnerships between TVET institutions and industry. TVET Fund plays a crucial role in promoting access to quality TVET education and training in Kenya. 4. TVET-CDACC: The Council shall have the following functions in accordance with the TVET Act No 29 of 2013: Perform the preparation and development of curricula in training institutions for their examination, evaluation and competence certification. Define rules for these examinations and assessments of competence. Appoint certificates to candidates who have successfully completed their National TVET tests and examinations as well as the competence evaluation requirements. Promote recognition of its qualifications in foreign systems. Determine cases where candidates registered with this system have behaved in an inappropriate manner. Promote and carry out research relating to its examinations; Ensure that books and other materials of relevance to its examination are published. Anything that might have been incidental or beneficial to any of the above functions.
