subject to the General Conditions which forms an integral part of these Specifications.
1.2. Delivery Storage, and Handling
a) Contractor shall check the materials upon delivery to assure proper material
has been received.
b) Contractor shall prevent excessive mud, concrete, and like construction
materials from encountering the materials.
c) Contractor shall protect the materials from damage once on site. Damaged
materials including cracked and chipped block beyond allowances provided.

2.0. Materials Specification

2.1. Concrete
2.1.1. Scope
• The project involves complete cast-in-place concrete construction.
• Unless specified otherwise, the contractor is responsible for providing all
necessary materials, equipment, and labor to complete the
proportioning, mixing, depositing, curing, and finishing of the concrete.
2.1.2. Protection and Storage
• Store cement in dry, water-tight, properly ventilated structures to
prevent deterioration and contamination.
• Any cement that is caked, partially set, deteriorated, or contaminated
must be rejected.
2.1.3. Materials
• Cement: Portland Cement conforming to ASTM C-150, “Standard
Specifications for Portland Cement”.
• Coarse Aggregates: Well graded, clean, hard particles of crushed gravel
or rock not larger than 3/4 of the minimum clear spacing between
reinforcing bars, bundle of bars, and in no case larger than 33mm in
diameter.
• Fine Aggregates: Clear washed natural sand equal to “PORAC” or
“PLARIDEL”.
• Water: Clean and free from injurious amounts of oils, alkali, organic
materials, and other substances that may be deleterious to concrete or
reinforcement.
• Steel Reinforcement: Structural Grade deformed bars - sizes as
indicated on drawings.
2.1.4. Concrete Mixes and Placing
• Concreting involves primarily the pouring of the reinforced concrete
footings and pedestal. Portland cement shall be used. Concrete
proportions shall be of class “A” (1:2:3 mix). Concrete shall attain a
minimum compressive strength of 3,000 psi in 28 days. Washed sand
shall be used; shall have the approval of Project Engineering as to quality.
Gravel shall be of acceptable quality, ¾” diameter minimum. Disapproved
materials shall immediately be hauled away from the construction site at
the expense of the contractor. Structural footings shall be reinforced and
constructed as per approved drawings and specifications.
2.1.5. Use of Forms
• Forms to confine and shape concrete shall have sufficient strength to
withstand pressure from placement and vibration of concrete. Forms for
exposed surfaces shall be lined with form grade plywood and be
sufficiently tight to prevent loss of mortar from the concrete.

2.2. Concrete Hollow Blocks

2.2.1. Scope
• Unless specified otherwise, the contractor is responsible for providing all
necessary materials, equipment, and labor to complete the
proportioning, mixing, depositing, curing, and finishing of the concrete.
2.2.2. Protection and Storage
• Store CHB in dry, water-tight, properly ventilated structures to prevent
deterioration and contamination.
• Any CHB that is caked, partially set, deteriorated, or contaminated must
be rejected.
2.2.3. Materials
• 100mm thick will be used for fence unless otherwise indicated. All CHB
Walls have a minimum compressive strength of 450PSI.
• 400mm x 200mm x 150mm is the dimension of CHB. The tolerance in the
length of the units shall not be more than +/- 5 mm and maximum
variation in height and width of the unit, not more than +/- 3mm.

2.3. Rectangular Steel Pipe

2.3.1. Scope
• Unless specified otherwise, the contractor is responsible for providing all
necessary materials, equipment, and labor to complete the
proportioning, mixing, depositing, curing, and finishing of the concrete.
2.3.2. Protection and Storage
• Store steel pipe in dry, water-tight, properly ventilated structures to
prevent deterioration and contamination.
• Any steel pipe partially set, deteriorated, or contaminated must be
rejected.
2.3.3. Materials
• 2mm thick 60mm x 30mm carbon rectangular steel pipe.
• Rectangular steel pipes shall be ASTM A36 Steel with yield strength of Fy
= 248MPA.
• Rectangular steel pipes shall have at least two coats of red lead o zinc
chromate primer paint.

2.4. Wood
2.4.1. Scope
• Unless specified otherwise, the contractor is responsible for providing all
necessary materials, equipment, and labor to complete the
proportioning, mixing, depositing, curing, and finishing of the concrete.
2.4.2. Protection and Storage
• Store woods in dry, water-tight, properly ventilated structures to prevent
deterioration and contamination.
• Any woods partially set, deteriorated, or contaminated must be rejected.
2.4.3. Materials
• 6mm thick oak wood slat and plank
• Waterproofing: Furnish wood materials required to complete all
waterproofing work as shown on the drawings and herein specified. All
applications shall be strictly performed by an approved waterproofing
Contractor. All materials shall be Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
certified and approved.

2.5. Sand
2.5.1. Scope
• Unless specified otherwise, the contractor is responsible for providing all
necessary materials, equipment, and labor to complete the
proportioning, mixing, depositing, curing, and finishing of the concrete.
2.5.2. Protection and Storage
• Keep containers securely sealed. Store in a cool, dry area protected from
environmental extremes.
• Store away from incompatible materials and foodstuff containers.
• Protect containers against physical damage and check regularly for leaks.
2.5.3. Materials
• Fine aggregate/ coarse sand consists of natural sand, crushed stone sand
or crushed gravel stone dust. It should be hard, durable chemically inert,
clean and free from organic matter, not containing any appreciable
amount of clay balls or pellets and other harmful impurities.
• It should be passed through I. S. Sieve 4.75 MM. It should have the finest
modulus 2.50 to 3.50 and silt contents should not be more than 4%.
