Call for Abstracts: Due Friday, September 4th, 2023


Event: CNDA Annual Conference
Topic: Cardiometabolic Health
Dates: April 26 - 28, 2024
Location: San Diego, CA

The California Naturopathic Doctors Association (CNDA) is holding its annual


conference on CardioMetabolic Conditions in San Diego, California, April 26-
28, 2024.

The CNDA’s Annual Conference Series is a highly rated, annual continuing


education event that offers CME accreditation for licensed Naturopathic
Doctors (NDs) and other interested healthcare practitioners. We also obtain
accreditation from the CA Acupuncture board.

We are asking that interested parties review our attached list of topics. This year,
our conference presentations will be in 90-minute time blocks (70 minute lecture
with 20 min Q&A).

We are requesting that interested speakers submit an abstract proposal with the
specific guidelines below. Speakers are encouraged to submit more than one
abstract proposal in either a series format or on different topics. If chosen,
speakers will do 1 presentation on either Saturday or Sunday. In an attempt to
continue to provide quality naturopathic medical care for our patients, we are
curating a series of topics to stay at the forefront of cutting edge research and
treatments in integrative medicine.

If you are interested in speaking at what we expect to be a highly-attended


event, read on.

We are inviting abstracts on one or more of the following topics:


● Updates in pharmacology

● Cardiovascular conditions

● Blood sugar conditions
● Dyslipidemia
● Metabolic health
● Inflammatory conditions
● Cutting edge naturopathic treatments

Our primary Interests are in your clinical experience, research surveys and clinical
models, principles of treatment/philosophical approach, testing, treatment
protocols, and case studies.
Due to time constraint, please focus on key takeaways rather than
pathophysiology.

We invite you to submit a proposal of abstract. We will select from those submitted
to develop our agenda.

Presentation Expectations

The goal of any presentation should be to provide an unbiased, clinically relevant


discussion that is in compliance with AANP and OANP accredited CMEs (NDs)
and CA LAc CMEs (CA Acupuncturists).

The presentation should be a unique presentation for the CNDA and not have
been presented elsewhere; nor should it be presented elsewhere within three
months after the CNDA presentation.

Speaker Financial Compensation

Speakers will receive an honorarium of $500 + the opportunity to attend the


conference and claim CEs as our guest.

The CNDA will secure accommodations for a 2 night stay at the hotel.

A $300 stipend for travel costs will be reimbursed when we receive your receipts.
We suggest you book travel early for best rates.

PLEASE NOTE & Plan accordingly: The first draft of your presentation will be
due WED, JAN. 17th, 2024 and the FINAL presentation is due on FRI, MARCH
15th. We have hard deadlines for outside accreditation and it is imperative to
meet these deadlines.

How To Submit Your Presentation Proposal To The CNDA


If you are interested in submitting an abstract to be considered for our upcoming
24th annual conference, please submit the following:

1) A Curriculum Vitae

2) An abstract or outline of your proposed presentation


In one page, please provide a summary or outline that describes your proposed
presentation. Please also include a summary of the learning objectives (3-5
recommended) of your presentation.

3) Length of presentation as proposed and the percentage of it


that will be focused on pharmacy. We highly encourage presenters
to include pharmacy as part of your presentation, and to make sure that
it is included in the submitted draft of your final presentation.

a) Presentations will be 70 minutes long with 20 min Q&A. (90 min total)
b) Speakers are encouraged to submit multiple abstract proposals.
b) What percentage of your presentation is pharmacy related content?
Choose one: 100%, 75%, 50%; 25%; None

What constitutes pharmacy related content?


Setting the background and understanding of anatomy, physiology, and etiology;
followed by pharmacological recommendations, research related to
pharmaceuticals, and drug-herb interactions.

4) A Sample PowerPoint Presentation*

Please provide a sample of a PowerPoint presentation created by you that is


representative of the type of presentation you would plan to give for a pharmacy or
naturopathic webinar. You may create a "mini" presentation of the topic you
propose to give OR you may provide a PowerPoint you have previously presented.
Sample presentations will be used for committee review only.

*If you have presented a professional presentation for a CNDA CME event
(conference or webinar) within the past 5 years, you do not need to submit a
sample presentation.

5) Disclosure Form
Please complete the attached Disclosure Form and fax (815-550-2411) or email
the signed form to the CNDA along with your other documents.

6) Full Understanding
Prior to submitting your documentation to the CNDA, please be sure you have read
this document in its entirety (not just scanned it) so that you are fully aware of our
expectations.

All of these documents are required for the CNDA Professional Development
Committee to review and make the final speaker selection. Once completed,
please email documents to abstracts@calnd.org.

Suggestions for a successful proposal:


Please focus your proposal on a specific topic with clinical applications that will
provide our doctors with relevant information to take home to their practices. The
subtopics are not limited to only what is listed above.

Please focus on your specific expertise and gear your presentation toward offering
practical approaches to direct patient care. If you are a non-practicing doctor (PhD,
lab director, etc.), your presentation should include information that can be put into
practice or that will directly support further clinical education of practicing doctors.
