Introduction
This reflective journal's goal is to track and evaluate my progress through the Changemaker
Certification course. As a project manager with a Changemaker Mindset, I will critically reflect
on my experiences, lessons learned, and personal development in this journal. It will include
knowledge obtained from participating in workshops, working on a project, and doing things
associated with the function of the Changemaker Project Manager. (Parekh, 2022)
This journal will be organized into parts on what I've learned, how those lessons apply to my
personal and professional development, and how I'll use these insights in real projects in the
future. Additionally, I'll provide a personal reflection that I may use to show prospective
employers my skills and the importance of the Changemaker Mindset in project management.
Finally, I'll talk about the harsh remarks I got for my presentation style and the way I told my
tale. (Logs, n.d)
Through this journal, I aim to fulfil the assignment requirements and demonstrate how I've
improved as a reflective project manager.

1. Changemaker mentality and personal growth

2.1 Knowledge gained in the Core Workshop
Participating in the main workshop on "Sustainable Goal: Making of Compost as a Plant
Feed from Garden Waste to Help the Local Community with Fresh, Organic Food" provided
insightful information about the Changemaker Mindset. (Mitrovic, n.d) I had the chance to
participate in a practical sustainability project in this session, which was both educational and
motivating.
2.2 Information on the Changemaker Mindset
I discovered that the Changemaker Mindset includes a proactive method of problem-
solving during the core course. It entails recognizing social and environmental problems and
taking effective action to resolve them (Ashoka, 2016). This way of thinking places a strong
emphasis on invention, teamwork, and empathy (benefits, 2023), as evidenced by the compost
project. Together, we developed a sustainable solution by using innovative thinking to turn
garden trash into a useful resource for the neighbourhood.
2.3 An Important Learning Experience with Legos
The Lego exercise that was undertaken at the same session was yet another crucial
learning opportunity in addition to the compost project. (Swanton, 2021) This exercise
emphasized the value of cooperation, clear communication, and flexibility in project
management. As a team, we had to come up with concepts, assign duties, and change our plans
as problems developed while building Lego constructions. This exercise emphasized that
effective project management requires more than just technical know-how and resources; it also
depends on the capacity to cooperate with others and adjust to changing project dynamics.
2.4 Relevance to Personal and Career Development
Through the Lego activity, I learned a lot about the Changemaker Mindset and cooperation.
With an emphasis on social responsibility, sustainability, and adaptability, this has extended my
outlook on project management. These values support my personal development and help me
become a more adaptable and socially responsible project manager, able to influence good
change in both my projects and society at large. With this new perspective, I can be a proactive,
flexible, and socially conscious project manager, which will benefit both my professional
progress and personal growth (Guide, n.d).

2. Contribution to a Project (Poster Creation)

My position in the Poster Project (PS1 Assignment) was complex and called for a range of
contributions. As the project manager, it was my job to organize the team's efforts and make sure
project goals were fulfilled. In addition, I actively participated in research, content creation, and
design. I maintained deadlines, promoted excellent team communication, and made sure the
completed poster satisfied all project criteria. (Kankainen, 2019)
3.1 Application of Skills and Insights in Future Projects
My project management and teamwork abilities have considerably improved as a result of the
Poster Project. I've gained knowledge in effective resource management, conflict resolution, and
project timeline maintenance, all of which are crucial for assuring a project's success. The project
also emphasized the significance of effective stakeholder participation and communication,
which are essential for coordinating project goals with organizational objectives. I will surely
find use for these abilities and insights in my future activities. (Bisht, 2023)
3.2 Project Manager Future Daily Practice Informing
This experience has changed the way I handle projects daily. It emphasized how crucial
having a proactive, problem-solving mindset is. I now see difficulties as chances for innovation
and progress (Team, 2022). My decision-making in project management will also be influenced
by my dedication to sustainability, social responsibility, and community involvement. I'll look
for projects that have a significant impact on society and work to see them through to
completion.
3.3 Putting Your Skills on Display for Potential Employers
The Poster Project serves as evidence of my abilities as a changemaker-minded project
manager. It demonstrates my capacity to successfully lead and collaborate, complete projects on
time, and adjust to changing conditions. (Alexander, 2023) This experience reflects my
dedication to environmental sustainability and social justice, which is in line with the ideals of
organizations that practice social responsibility. Through this initiative, potential employers can
understand how I can benefit their teams and advance their overall objectives, making me a
valuable asset to any company.

3. Understanding the Project Manager's Role as a Changemaker

4.1 Participation in Role-Defining Activities
I actively participated in several activities during my participation in the Changemaker
Certification program that were intended to provide me with an understanding of the duties and
obligations of a Changemaker Project Manager. These activities provided me with real-world
experiences that went beyond academic learning and expanded my comprehension.
(Changemaker, n.d)
4.2 Investigating Methods and Theories
Investigating Theories and Methods
I researched a number of tools and theories necessary for a Changemaker Project Manager while
pursuing the Changemaker Certification:
 Project management for sustainable development: I learned how to apply sustainability
principles to projects, coordinating them with goals for sustainable development while
taking social and environmental effects into account.
 Engagement of Stakeholders: After learning about effective stakeholder management
techniques, I realized how crucial it was to include stakeholders at various project stages.
 Innovation and creativity: To help me approach problems creatively, I dived into
innovation frameworks and creative problem-solving methodologies._
 Risk management: I researched risk assessment techniques that take into account moral,
social, and environmental factors—a crucial component of moral and environmentally
friendly project management.
 Change Management: My capacity to lead teams through transitions has improved as a
result of my understanding of change management models and practices, which is in line
with the Changemaker's goal of bringing about good change.
 Instruments for Community Engagement: To ensure that initiatives address genuine
needs and concerns, I obtained instruments for involving stakeholders and local
communities in project decision-making.
4. Application for everyday practice
The information and understanding I have learned from doing these things have had a
significant impact on how I manage projects daily. I now approach projects from a more all-
encompassing angle, incorporating ethical, innovative, and sustainable factors into my project
planning. I actively look for chances to apply the Changemaker tenets to my work to have a good
social and environmental impact. (A. Watt, n.d.)
In addition, by being exposed to a variety of tools and theories, I have improved my ability to
adapt when tackling project complexity. Whether it entails environmental programs, community
participation, or innovation-driven solutions, I can adapt my approach to each project's specific
needs. This flexibility helps me be more productive as a project manager and makes it possible
for me to produce outcomes that are in line with both organizational goals and societal well-
being.
Overall, participating in these activities has given me a broad skill set and a thorough grasp
of the Changemaker Project Manager role, enabling me to use my projects to effect real change
and contribute to a future that is more environmentally and socially conscious. (Parekh, 2022)

5. Reflective Cycle
I'll discuss my observations and experiences from a core session on "Sustainable Goal:
Making of compost as a plant feed from garden waste to help the local community with fresh,
organic food" in this reflective analysis. I'll also talk about how I took part in a Lego-related
activity. These encounters had a significant role in how I came to understand the Changemaker
Mindset and how it relates to project management. The training and exercise tested me, stirred
up a range of feelings, and eventually had a significant impact on both my personal and
professional growth. Let's see how these events developed. (Parekh, 2022)

Figure 1: Gibb’s Reflection Cycle. (G, 2023)

6.1 Description
I took part in a core session on the topic of "Sustainable Goal: Making of compost as a
plant feed from garden waste to help the local community with fresh, organic food." I also
participated in a Lego activity that same session. (Mitrovic, n.d)
6.2 Feelings
I was a little hesitant to engage in these unusual activities. There was some trepidation
due to the unfamiliar topics and exercises. But as I got more involved with these activities, my
initial reluctance gave way to a burst of enthusiasm and fire. The Lego project in particular
brought a sense of play and involvement to the learning process while also tackling actual
sustainability issues, which was quite energizing. (Group, 2021)
6.3 Analysis
These interactions during the Changemaker Certification course served as powerful examples of
the mindset's revolutionary potential. They not only gave me a basic understanding of the
mindset but also deep insights into how to use it in project management.
Session of Composting

What I Learned: The composting workshop was a revelation for how to serve the needs of the
community while also cutting trash. I discovered how practical environmental problems may be
solved using sustainable techniques. Composting wasn't the only goal; encouraging a mindset of
resourcefulness and sustainability was as important.

Impact on my personal and professional life: My desire for sustainable solutions was personally
sparked by this encounter. It increased my awareness of projects' effects on the environment and
my responsibility to lessen those effects. It broadened my view of project management from a
professional standpoint. I came to understand that the accomplishment of a project should not
only be judged by the products it produces, but also by the favorable effects it has on the
surrounding area and the environment (Team, 2023).

Future Application: I intend to incorporate sustainable techniques as a key element in future

initiatives. This entails taking into account eco-friendly materials, waste minimization, and
making sure that projects adhere to environmental objectives (Mangement, 2023). I learned
through the composting experience that even seemingly insignificant decisions can have a big
impact on a project's longevity.

Lego Project
What I learned: The Lego project provided a practical introduction to the value of cooperation,
effective communication, and adaptability. It reaffirmed the notion that the secret to happier
workers, project managers, and businesses is project cooperation.(JOHANSSON, 2023).

Impact on Me Personally: This experience deepened my appreciation for the complexities of

teamwork. It made me realize the importance of having a variety of viewpoints and how
integrating various skill sets may result in creative solutions. In my professional life, I came to
the conclusion that effective project management is based on good teamwork (McHale, 2019).

Future Application: I want to give effective teamwork top priority in my future endeavors. In
order to encourage team members to offer their original ideas and abilities, I will create an
atmosphere where they feel respected and heard (Team, 2023). In addition, I'll continue to be
flexible in the face of obstacles since I understand how important flexibility is to a project's
success.

Overall Impact:

Changemaker Mindset: These situations demonstrated that the Changemaker Mindset is a real
strategy that can be applied to regular project management, not just a theoretical idea. Being
proactive, inventive, and community-focused are key.

Society and Environment: As a project manager with a Changemaker Mindset, I now understand
that I have the ability and duty to use my work to positively affect society and the environment.
This way of thinking is completely consistent with my personal values and professional goals
(Grzeskowitz, 2019).

6.4 Evaluation
These changes have significantly impacted both my professional development and my
changing viewpoint on project management. Learning through practical, interesting tasks has
been shown to have a much greater impact than typical classroom instruction. I now fully
understand the fundamentals of sustainability, community involvement, and useful project
management techniques. (Sustainability, n.d)This information is beneficial to me personally and
will be crucial in my next project management profession.
6.5 Action Strategy
To apply the lessons learned from these experiences effectively, I will:
 Integrate Sustainability: To ensure a balance between environmental and social
repercussions, I will integrate sustainability issues into project planning (management,
2023).
 Stakeholder Engagement: In keeping with the Changemaker concept, I will actively
promote effective stakeholder interaction to encourage community involvement and
collaboration (Bhatti, 2023).
 Promote Creativity: Motivate project teams to take a creative approach to issues, and
embrace cutting-edge solutions to difficult difficulties (Persona, 2023).
 Comprehensive Risk Assessment: Apply cutting-edge risk assessment approaches that
take into account not only financial factors but also social, ethical, and environmental
ones.
 Community Involvement: Participate actively in project decision-making with the local
community to ensure that projects properly address genuine needs and concerns
(Rodrigues, 2022).

As a Changemaker-minded project manager, I'm dedicated to continuous growth. I plan to

enhance my skills through training in sustainability, innovation, and change management. I'll
actively seek job opportunities to apply my knowledge, fostering my impact in the industry.

Conclusions
I've documented my progress through the Changemaker Certification course in my reflective
journal, highlighting significant encounters, valuable insights, and personal development. I have
investigated the significant effects of proactive problem-solving, sustainability, community
participation, and adaptation in project management as a project manager (Gisele Blak Bernat,
2023) with a Changemaker Mindset.
The Lego activity and the workshop on sustainable composting demonstrated the transformative
power of the Changemaker Mindset by emphasizing the value of collaboration, imagination, and
empathy in solving practical problems like environmental sustainability.

These experiences help me personally and prepare me for a career in project management in the
future. They have improved my knowledge and viewpoint while also increasing my professional
adaptability and social conscience. I'm now prepared to take the helm of projects that benefit
society and the environment.

This journal highlights how the Changemaker Mindset has changed my perspective on project
management and my development as a reflective project manager. It demonstrates my dedication
to utilize project management to promote a sustainable and morally upright future.
