Using the Moodle Mobile App
Version 2 : 2022
Overview:
This document provides guidelines to using the Moodle Mobile App for
INCEIF. The Moodle App is an optional format to access our courses and
should be used at the discretion of the student. It is the responsibility of
all students, regardless of how they access the course, to ensure that
tasks are submitted on time and in the correct format. Any technology
or navigation errors will not result in task extensions. If you have problems
accessing via the app, please access the online course portal at the
following link: https://lms.inceif.org/moodle/
Note: This document contains general guidelines. Images and functions
will differ by smart device.

1. Installing and Downloading the Moodle App
Step 1: Locate and Install
➢ To locate and install the Moodle Mobile App from an iOS device, go to the App
Store and search for Moodle Mobile App.
➢ To locate and install the app from an Android device, go to the Play Store and
search for Moodle Mobile App.
Step 2: Open and login
➢ Once you open the app on your phone, you’ll
be prompted to log in. Type in the URL site
https://lms.inceif.org/moodle and then click Add.

➢ You may be prompted to log in to the site in a browser window. If so, select Yes.

➢ Fill out the username and password that was supplied to you by Student Affairs
and select the Log In button. The Moodle App will remember your login
information, facilitating quick access to the course.

2. Setting the URL site
Using the keyboard on your mobile device the URL https://lms.inceif.org/moodle/ into the Your
Site field

You must select the site that you wish to connect to by tapping the name of the site.

You are then prompted to login.

3. Use the QR code
On the Connect to Moodle screen click the Scan QR Code button

Click Next to bypass the “Where can I find my QR code?” message (If your university has enabled
it, you will find a QR code on the web site at the bottom of your user profile page).

Once the camera determines that there is a valid QR code in view the text will be entered into the app and
the Login Screen will display.

Note: You made need to move the camera to make the QR code
appear larger or smaller. Once the camera captures it the login
screen will appear with the site information filled in.

4. Locating and Entering a Course
To find a course, you need to:
➢ Select Dashboard in the upper right-hand corner and scroll to select the course you have
been enrolled.
➢ Click on the course you want to enter.

To view menu in the block, you need to:
➢ Select in the middle right-hand corner and scroll to see the information as in Figure 12

To find messages, you need to:
➢ Select in the bottom menu and you will see the list of messages you’re your contacts.
➢ Clicking the icon displays the messaging drawer, divided into starred messages, group
messages and personal messages. (Figure 13)
➢ Each user can also use their starred messages as their own starred area where they can
add draft messages, links and notes for later use.

➢ Contacts and contact requests may be accessed from the Contacts link. (Figure 14)

➢ A star may be added by clicking the three dots when viewing a message (Figure 15)

➢ From the three dots, messages may be muted, so that email notifications of new messages are no
longer sent: (Figure 16)

To view notifications, you need to:
➢ Select in the bottom menu and you will see the list of notifications that has been sent to
you earlier. (Figure 17)

To view calendar, you need to:
➢ Select in the bottom menu and you will see your calendar. The calendar displays site, course,
group, user and category events in addition to assignment and quiz deadlines, chat times and other
course events. (Figure 18)

➢ The orange dot in the date shows that there is event has been set up that need to be
looked for. (Figure 19)

➢ When you click on the orange dot in Figure 19, Figure 20 shows the list of events that
need to be completed.

5. Getting Around: General Course Navigation
The top of the screen divides the course into three sections: Contents, Participants, and Competencies.

To view and access course content, you have two options:
➢ Option 1
Click on the to view course content divided into drop down menu
➢ Option 2
Click on the navigation button to browse the course
content.

In every section of the course, you will see the images below. It indicates that:
➢
You have done viewing/accessing the materials or information.
➢
You need to view/access the materials

To view the updated content in your moodle app such as participation in activity such quiz or grading for
your assignment submission, you need to refresh the app by dragging the screen until you see the
symbol then release it. As in Figure 26.

6. Viewing PDFS
Some of the PDFs located in the course are accompanied by a link icon to the right. Clicking on those
documents will prompt your browser to open to access the file.

PDFs that have no link icon are embedded within the course and will open within the Moodle App.

7. Posting in the Participation Forums
Click on the forum icon to access the directions and posts.

To reply to a post in a forum, click on the grey reply button at the bottom and then click on the REPLY
button at the bottom of the post. (You may need to scroll or select show more to view it.) This will
take you to a screen that has the subject of the post you are replying to at the top.

From there, write under the word Message. If you want to attach content to your post, you will need to
click on the tab that says Advanced and then select + add file. When you are done, select POST TO FORUM.

8. Submitting an Assignment
To submit an Assignment, click on ADD FILE and then upload your file. In the top right, click on SAVE.
It will then tell you Submitted for Grading (highlighted in green).

Note: It is not recommended to try and complete such as assignment
submission and forum posting, via texting or through very small smart
devices. Use your best judgment when selecting the appropriate tech devices
to complete tasks so that you can submit your best work.

9. Taking a Quiz
To take a quiz, click on the quiz icon and read through the directions. Click on ATTEMPT QUIZ NOW
and then START ATTEMPT when you are ready to begin taking the quiz.
A timer will appear in the quiz to indicate you how much time remains if the quiz has a time limit.

A quiz also can be attempted by a number allowed.

When you are all done answering the questions, select NEXT and then SUBMIT ALL TO FINISH.

10. Viewing Quiz Submission
To review the previous attempt, click on the “Summary of your previous attempts”. Click on “Review”
and you will see the feedback of your attempts by one page at a time.

11. Accessing Webinar
You will receive notification on the webinar session to your mobile devices where you install
moodle app.

You will be redirected launch the link from the app. Click on “Launch the activity” to view and
you will be asked to open the link in your device browser.
