2. Go jet boating
If you love fast things and water, then jet boating is for you! In New
Zealand, you have your choice of jet-boating through the raging
Huka Falls in the North Island or experience crazy 360-degree turns
in the Shotover Jet in Queenstown.
The Otago Central Rail Trail is a former railway line and a 150km
biking and hiking trail that runs throughout Central Otago on the
South Island. You can choose to rent a bike and explore by yourself
or go with a group. The trail takes you on a journey past snow-
covered mountains, blue lakes, bridges, and even through canyons
and tunnels! What a way to experience the South Island!
4. Heli-hike a glacier
Did you really visit New Zealand if you didn’t explore Abel Tasman
National Park? Located at the top of the South Island, this national
park full of magic and wonders cannot be missed. Many people
choose to hike throughout the national park, but with breathtaking
views and crystal clear water at every beach, kayaking is a must-
do. You can either rent a kayak and explore yourself or go on a
guided tour.
One of the most amazing things about New Zealand is our marine
life, so why not take advantage of that and go swimming with
dolphins? Dolphin Encounter takes you on a two-hour life-
changing experience in the waters just off the Kaikoura coast
where you can swim and interact with the beautiful dolphins of
New Zealand.
8. Climb the Auckland Harbour Bridge
The Auckland Harbour Bridge Bungy is the only one in New Zealand
that is ocean touch! Jump 40m from the bridge and dip your fingers
in the Waitemata Harbour. Although it may be one of the smaller
bungys in New Zealand, it’s not one to be missed!
Dive into an inflatable ball (ZORB) and roll down a mountain at high
speed in Rotorua! With four different tracks to choose from,
there’s something for everyone! The ZORB was invented in New
Zealand, so it would be rude not to experience such a unique
invention!
15. Heli-ski in Wanaka
You can’t visit the South Island without experiencing its snow. Take
a helicopter flight to the top of Wanaka’s nearby mountains and
glide down the fresh, untouched snow, creating your own track as
you make your way to the bottom! Heliski offers some of the best-
guided heliskiing tours in the South Island!
