What Next After Secondary School Programme, is a school based, college and career readiness initiative,
specially designed to help better prepare students to successfully transition into either of tertiary
education or equivalent, employment, and entrepreneurship, upon graduation. The programme
provides students with the tools they need to make informed decisions about their future.

It is designed to help students, especially those in SS3, answer some of the vital transition questions that
may be weighing heavily on their minds, in particular: should I proceed to tertiary education? Which
tertiary institution should I choose and why? How do I cope with pressures inherent in tertiary
education? What if I don't gain admission? Is there any value in learning a trade or a vocational skill?
And so more.

Activities include career counselling, digital and financial literacy workshops, under a classroom-based
career & life planning program, christened “WhatNext Conversations”, carefully curated to encourage
students to give serious thoughts to the post-secondary options available to them. By the end of the
programme, students would have created a well-researched career & life roadmap, which they would
be supported to follow-through, upon graduation.

What Next After Secondary School Programme is powered by the NYSC WhatNext Collaboration, a
working arrangement between the NYSC and WhatNext Africa, to empower corpers in classrooms to
facilitate career conversations and mentoring, using the WhatNext Conversations Curriculum

...National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, is a mandatory one (1) year National Service programme for all
Nigerian graduates of tertiary education, local and foreign, under thirty (30) years old.
