Emotions

Questions to discuss.

1. When was the last time you were over the moon? What happened
to you?

2. How often do you feel down in the dumps? What helps you get
over it?

3. Have you ever been green with envy? Is it natural for people to be
jealous?

4. What is the difference between frustration and sadness? Have you


ever felt frustrated?

Work in pairs.

Discuss with your partner what sort of emotions people experience in


the following situations:
1) at the audition for a song contest;
2) after having seen the eviction note;
3) before the wedding ceremony ( bride/groom);
4) during the holiday of their dreams;
5) after having learnt that their friend’s husband had cheated on his
wife;
6) at the theme park with their family;
7) when the extended family has informed about their visit on New
Year day;
8) after having won the lottery.

5. Can you keep a cool head in emergencies? Is it possible to learn to


do it?

6. Are you the person who tends to hide their emotions? Why, if
ever?

Work in pairs.

Art is a way of expressing somebody else’s emotions. Have you ever


tried an art therapy? Did you enjoy it?

You have 1 minute to draw or paint the picture.

Show your partner your drawing or painting and let them guess what
emotions did you have while drawing it.

Vocabulary:

Feel down in the dumps – грустить

Be green with envy – быть зеленым от зависти

Be on edge – быть на грани (стресс)

Be over the moon – ощущать счастье и восторг


Blow one’s top – ощущать злость ( срывает крышку)
Example: I usually blow my top if someone tries to lecture me.
