Students should be able to Create
Form Using Wizard or Auto Form,
Open Form, and Rename Form.
In this chapter, the creation of Form will be in two ways: Create Form in Design View and Form using
Wizard. During the Form creation, a Form to contain fields from one and more than one tables are also
studied. To proficiency in using Form, manipulations of Form input, such as moving, editing, adding and
deleting data through a Form becomes compulsory to study them here.
In addition, changing the view of a created Form will also be learnt, that is, the manipulations of the control-
box that captures of displays a field’s content and the label that displays text description of a field in a Form.
The manipulations include resizing, changing font and its style, changing colour and changing text. None of
the less, adding a picture to the Form is studied as well.

Form creation in Design View allows you to design fields of Form to your desire. In this section, we will be
creating Form in Design View again with detail in the step by step manner.
2. Select the table containing the fields you want to include in your Form.
3. Double click on each field you want to include in your Form or use the Select button to
select the fields.
4. Each field that you have selected appears in the box at the right side.
5. To remove a field you have selected, use the deselect button to remove single or all
fields.

6. When you finish selecting all the fields you want to include in your Form, click on Next
to continue. The Form layout dialog box appears.
7. Click on the layout you want to use for your Form.

1. You can also create a Form from scratch in Layout View instead of Design View. From the create
tab, click Blank Form.

2. Drag the desired fields from the Field List onto the form.
3. Creating a form in Layout view allows you to see the actual data as the fields are added.

3. Click the Add Existing Fields button on the Design tab, if necessary, to see a list of
tables and their fields. Drag the desired fields onto the form.

4. Drag the desired fields from the Field List onto the form.
5. Click on to save your Form.
Once you know how to create forms it is time to start making those forms look and act the way you
want. To do that, you need to know your way around the parts of a form.
Controls are the parts of forms that most users see and work with. They are object that display data,
perform actions, and let you view and work with information. Besides, controls make forms more
attractive and easier.
There are two types of control. Bound control is a control that attached to a specific field in a
selected table and query. Unbound control is a control is used to display information, lines,
rectangles and pictures.
To make sure your form looks more interesting and professional, controls and fields need to arrange
appropriately. To arrange a field in a Form:

1. Change the Form to Design View.
2. Select the field you want to move.
3. Select the fields that you want to arrange by pressing SHIFT key and click on the textboxes
that you want. Handles ( ) appear around the controls.

4. Position the mouse over a handle and then drag the selected text boxes to the new location.

7.5.1. Adding a Label
You can add a label that you want to appear for each record in your Form. Labels are useful for
displaying important information. Before adding a label, we will move a group of existing
labels and texts as to provide space for adding the new label. To add a label to your Form:
3. Click on the border of the label drag to where you want the top left corner of the label to
appear on your Form.
4. Type the text for the label and then press the ENTER key.
5. Save your changes.

1. Click on the control that displays the text you want to have a new style.
2. Click on one of the following buttons.
Some people use the Tab key to move through a form, from one control to another, as they enter or
view data. It is important that the tab order be logical and easy to work with.
To change the tab order,
1. Switch to Design View, if necessary.
2. From Arrange tab, click Tab Order.
3. Under section, click the name of the form section for which you want to change the tab
order.

4. Drag the control names up or down in the Custom Order list.
5. The Auto Order button will set the tab order to a left-to-right, top-to-bottom order.
