speaking.

TOPIC 1: WHERE YOU LIVE

1.Where do you live?
I’m currently living in a small town in the suburb of Hanoi the capital.
2.What do you like about it?
It’s a really livable place, peaceful and quiet. Plus, it’s an affordable place to raise a family compared
to the inner city.
3. What would you like to change about your town?
As wonderful as my town is, there are still things that leave a little to be desired, especially when it
comes to public transport. I mean the buses are more often than not unreliable. They are not punctual,
which is really inconvenient for local people like me. I hope this will soon improve.
TOPIC 2: FRIENDS
1. Do you often go out with your friends?
I’d love to but I just can’t afford the time to do so very often. You know, I’m a working mom
juggling between work and family responsibilities. Sometimes I feel like I don’t even have enough
time to eat and sleep, let a lone see my friends.
2. Are friends important to you?
Definitely. I believe that we all need someone by our side when we are in need, a shoulder to cry on.
I am really lucky to have a few true friends, who’ve been with me through thick and thin.
3. What do you often do with your friends?
Whenever I see my bestie in her city, she takes me to her perennial favorite coffee shop. As a matter
of fact, she is kinda addicted to coffee, she needs a caffein fix from time to time. We just sit there and
talk about whatever comes to mind.
4. Do you have a friend that you have known for a long time?
I have several childhood friends that I’ve known for more than 20 years. We’re living in different
cities now, so we tend to keep in touch on social media sites. Only when we return to our hometown,
on such a special occasion as Tet holiday which is round the corner, do we have a friend gathering.
TOPIC 3: DREAMS AND AMBITIONS
1. What was your dream when you were small?
Oh, it’s funny. When I was knee-high, I used to watch this TV program quite a lot, called “Traveling
the world”. I would watch it with my brothers every weekend. Basically, it was all about travelling to
different countries, putting on traditional costumes, trying local cuisines, that sort of thing. And I
dreamed of traveling to every single country when I grew up. But you know what, in reality, I’ve
never gone abroad before. *the examiner laughed really hard*
2. What would you like to do in the future?
To be perfectly honest with you, I’m working as a teacher, an English teacher. I love working with
children who are so adorable and energetic, so I’ve never thought about a career change before. In
the immediate future, I’d love to pursue the Celta course to become a professional teacher.
PART 2: DESCRIBE A CROWED PLACE THAT YOU WENT TO
Thanks for the topic. To be perfectly honest with you, I’m an introverted kind of person. Rarely do I
go to a crowed place. I prefer having mee-time rather than being in a crowd. So I don’t have much to
talk about when it comes to this topic, but anyway I will be talking about a seminar that I’ve been to
recently.
A bit about myself, I’m really into the topic of financial management as I’ve always wanted to
become money wise and reach financial freedom one day. It was last month when I was surfing on
the internet, I came across a pop-up ad about a finance seminar run by Robert Kyosaki. In case you
don’t know him, he is a renowned Japanese – American investors, and also a best seller author. You
may know about his books like Rich dad poor dad, Improve your financial IQ, to name just a few.
I’ve read quite a lot of his books, and I would say that he is my idol. So I signed up for the seminar
without a second thought.
The seminar was held in this city, Hanoi. When I came to the seminar, I was taken a back by how
crowed it was. There were thousands of participants like me. The conference room was so jam-
packed with people that it took me ages to find my seat. But the staff were really nice, they were a
big help. Although it was super crowed, it was held professionally, I could here everything nice and
clear. So I would say that in general, I had a satisfactory experience attending the seminar. Should
Rober hold another seminar in my country, I will definitely give it a go. That’s all I wanna talk about.
*perfect timimg. The examiner smiled*
Follow up: Do you like going to crowded places?
Absolutely not. Like I said, I am an introvert, I would rather being alone than being in a crowd. As a
matter of fact, I tend to shy away from crowed places. Even when I am talking to you right now, I
don’t feel 100% comfortable.
*the examiner nodded sympathetically*
PART 3
1. LET’S TALK ABOUT LIVING SPACE. What are advantages and disadvantages of living in an
apartment?
Well, I’m living in an apartment so I can tell. On the on hand, the apartment is quite compact
compared to a private house, so you don’t have to clean up a lot, which means that you can save a
great deal of time doing household chores. This can be seen as a life saver for a workaholic like me.
However, as you have to share your living space with many other neighbors, your freedom and
privacy is sacrificed. For instance, it’s a big no-no for you to have a party late at night, no matter how
badly you want it, otherwise your neighbor would get mad.
Another possible drawback is that, it can be stressful to live with some difficult neighbors. Take my
self for example, I am a workaholic, I never finish work before 10pm which prevents me from
attending social gatherings like a dinner party with my neighbors. So when I am not there, they
gossip, they rumor, I am really scared of that.
*The examiner smiled again*
2. LET’S TALK ABOUT THE CITY AND THE COUNTRY. How can we help people in big
cities get closer to each other?
Well, I belive that it’s all about our attitude. As long as we really want to, we can find the way.
In my case, I try to be nice to people around me. I help them when they are in need, sometimes I give
them the vegetables that I grow. Such tiny little things can touch people and change people in a
positive way.
2. You mean, people in big cities should learn those tricks to live together in peace?
*I don’t like the way she said “TRICKS”, so I got a little crossed*
I don’t call it TRICKS, I call it SINCERITY. Cuz I believe what goes around, comes around. If you
put your heart into maintaining good relationships with other people, if you proactively show your
good will and kindness, they will treat you the same, sooner or later.
3. OK, SO LET’S TALK ABOUT LIFESTYLES. Do you think that the happiest people are those
who are surrounded with many other people?
Well, it can be true. Some people are called social butterflies, they love being with other people, even
with strangers. I guess they have a great sense of community, a great sense of belonging when they
socialize. They also learn a great deal from different people they meet, you know listening to various
stories and then they know more to share with their friends or children.
Having said that, for many introverted people like me, I find it most enjoyable when I have some
mee-time, listening to my favorite song or having my nose in my favorite book. So I would say that
what you’ve just said is not absolutely true. It depends.
*time was up and she stopped me”
