Right People for Managerial Success

1. Tell me about yourself and why you want to work in HR?

➢ I have been attracted to HR for many years, simply because the skills and qualities I possess are
suited to the role, and I also have a passion for helping direct and coordinate the administrative
functions of an organization. I am a good communicator and I will always check my work
accuracy. I am a strong organizer, something which was vital during my educational study years.
I am also very much open to learning, a self-motivated person and I will always follow the
necessary rules, policies and guidance relevant to HR working practices. I would also like to think
I am a standards and values-driven person, who has high levels of honesty and integrity. At the
same time I am here to learn, I feel I can come into the organization and make a significant
difference through my passion for the work.

2. What do you expect to be doing on a day-to-day basis working on HR?


➢ My duties will be many and varied, including working with other departments within the
organization, assisting and advising managers and supervisors to carry out their roles,
understanding and implementing various policies and procedures to improve the efficiency and
culture of the company. I will also assist in areas such as staff performance, hiring, recruiting,
interview processes and also training and development. I will need to ensure my work is within
the scope of employment law especially when I am assisting in the creation of employment
contracts and job specifications for various roles.

3. What do you think you will like the least about working in HR?
➢ There is not much l will dislike about working in HR. However, if I had to choose one thing, I would
say I don’t think I would be too passionate about recruiting and interviewing staff.

4. Tell me how you would deal with the unethical situation at work?
➢ I would deal with it in line with the policies and procedures laid down by the organization and I
would never turn a blind eye to it. The Human resources department sets the standards for others
to follow and on that basis, If you don’t follow the rules yourself, you can’t expect others to do
the same. Unethical situations are not acceptable and I would bring it to the attention of the HR
Manager straight away.

5. What assessments or tests should we administer to evaluate candidates' skills and abilities?
➢ When selecting assessments or tests, it's essential to ensure they are valid, reliable, and free
from bias. Additionally, consider the time and resources required to administer and evaluate
the assessments, as well as the candidate experience. A well-designed assessment process can
help identify the best candidates who possess the skills and abilities needed to excel in the role.

6. How do we ensure that new hires have the resources and support they need to succeed in
their roles?
➢ Ensuring that new hires have the resources and support they need is crucial for their success and
for the overall productivity and satisfaction of the team. Here are some strategies to achieve this:
the comprehensive onboarding process, assign a mentor, training and development
opportunities, regular check-ins, access to resources feedback mechanism encourage
networking and collaboration. By implementing these strategies, organizations can ensure that
new hires receive the support and resources they need to succeed in their roles.

7. What are your top 3 skills?


➢ My top 3 skills are communication skills, leadership skills and teamwork skills. Effective
communication is crucial in virtually any job. Employers desire team members who can
interpret instructions accurately and communicate effectively with others. This includes skills
such as writing, speaking, listening, and negotiating. Leadership abilities are highly valued by
employers. Whether you’re managing a team or contributing to a project in a leadership role,
these skills help you motivate others and ensure tasks are completed promptly. While for
teamwork skills, regardless of your job title or industry, teamwork skills are essential. Being able
to collaborate, demonstrate honesty, take on responsibility, and communicate effectively with
colleagues are critical attributes that employers seek in applicants.

8. What are your salary expectation?


➢ I do not have salary expectations at this time, as I have not put much thought into
compensation because my focus is whether I am a good fit for this position.

9. Which benefits do you value the most?


➢ Benefits something that produces good or helpful results or effects or that promotes well-
being. So the benefits that I value the most are health insurance and retirement plans.

10. What is employee incentive program?


➢ Employee incentive programs also known as employee rewards programs are designed not only
to retain and engage current talent but also to make the organization more attractive to the top
talent in their industry.
