LIFTING PROCEDURE FOR UNLOADING MATERIALS USING A BOOM TRUCK

These are the following procedure that Tarlac 3-G Construction and Development Corporation will be
using for all the unloading works of materials when using a boom truck:

1. Conduct a visual inspection of the equipment.


a) The site engineer and safety officer will jointly inspect the worthiness of the boom truck.
b) A checklist was provided on the Lifting Permit form that shall be signed and noted by both
individuals.
2. Conduct a visual inspection of site conditions and potential hazards.
a) The site engineer and safety officer will assess the current site condition prior to
mobilization.
b) Unloading works shall commence only if the ground is suitable for the operation and hazards
are well identified.
c) Overhead obstructions shall be removed.
3. Ensure the stability zone of the equipment.
a) The boom truck level on the ground must be checked to avoid tipping off of the equipment
due to unbalanced load distribution.
4. Ensure stabilizers are fully deployed.
a) Boom trucks or mobile crane equipped with outriggers shall have those fully extended with
load bearing pads.
5. Check the rigging.
a) The rigging must be stiff enough while carrying loads.
b) Appropriate lifting rope / belt shall be used.
6. Ensure all safety devices are in place.
a) The safety officer shall ensure that all fixed barriers or early warning devices are present on
the work area. This shall include lighting and safety signages.
7. Ensure all personnel is a safe distance from the equipment, the loads and any other
objects within the lift zone and its perimeters.
a) Safe distance shall be implemented during the lifting process.
b) The designated watchman or flagman shall be equipped with a whistle to be used to warn
everyone during emergencies.
8. Ensure loads to be lifted are within the crane’s capacity per the owner’s manual.
a) The engineer and the safety officer shall verify the crane’s capacity as not to overload the
equipment.
b) Excessive loads shall require a larger crane.
9. Ensure load/lift limits are fully adhered to.
a) Overloading of each lifting shall not be allowed.
10. Ensure the crane is as close to the load being lifted as possible.

a) The telescopic boom shall be kept to its average length as possible to allow
better lifting capacity.
11. When performing lifts, keep loads as low to the ground as is reasonably safe.
12. Secure the load once it has been lifted and properly stow the crane, stabilizers,
winches and any other moving parts.
13. Lower the load on the designated stockpile / storage area. Use pads, crates or
wedges as means of supporting each materials.
