Lifting Methodology for Forklift:

Dismantling and Loading onto Low-bed Trailer

I. MOBILIZATION

materials, debris, barricade, parked vehicle, etc.
2. Before lifting starts, all involved personnel will have a “TOOL BOX” meeting or a meeting that reminds each
personnel involved about the safety factors that needs to be observed during operation
3. 80-ton crane will position at designated area 6 meters away from forklift body with declared heaviest weight
of 38 Tons for the forklift with mast and fork detached.
4. The outrigger jacks will be extended and the crane chassis will be lifted off the ground and set levelled.
5. The crane operator will extend the boom in order to lift its counterweight from trailer onto the crane’s body.
6. Operator to conduct pre-operation check prior to lifting.
7. Apply 3 seconds rule during lifting, to check equipment stability while the load is lifted slightly from
ground/pedestal.
8. The crane is ready for lifting.

II. LIFTING and DISMANTLING OF CARRIAGE AND MAST

1. Crane to position hook on top of forklift mast prior for dismantling of carriage/backrest and lifting of inner
mast by the assistance manlift.
2. Crane and forklift operator to follow instructions of rigger to ensure that the mast of forklift is properly
attached
3. Lift the inner mast 2-3m or until it reaches the top of the carriage
4. Crane operator needs to follow instructions of rigger to ensure if the mast reaches the required room for
the carriage to pull out.
5. 10T Forklift operator and rigger will work together for ensure safe travelling on approaching carriage/backrest.
6. Forklift to position on pulling out the carriage
7. Rigger to signal the crane operator to slowly lower the inner mast until it reaches its bottom point.
8. Crane, forklift and rigger to work together to ensure detached carriage is properly stowed.
9. Rigger to securely transfer the lifting hooks to outer mast lifting point, prior to lifting by the help of man lift
10. Lift the crane boom until the wire rope have sufficient tension to just support the
11. Pull out of mast pin by hammering it out.
12. Use of manlift and hammer to remove the tilting cylinder pin.
13. Retract the lifting cylinder manually by the use of hammer
14. Crane operator to confirm to the rigger if it is safe to lift (zero personnel and other equipment near the mast)
15. Crane and forklift to work together to ensure detached mast and fork is properly stowed.
16. Crane to position hook onto forklift body to prepare for lifting and mounting onto low-bed.
17. Rigger to secure rigging materials attached on hook onto the forklift's body.
18. Rigger to signal crane operator to slowly raise the forklift until low-bed is able to pass below the forklift.
19. Low-bed to maneuver below forklift for preparation of loading onto itself.
20. Rigger to signal crane operator to lower forklift onto low-bed.
21. Rigger to release rigging materials from forklift once forklift is safely landed on top of low-bed and secured
using lashing tools.
