Beliefs held about ability are developed over time based upon
individual
Students experiences

great analytical thinkers, while others are creative
Students are either smart or not. There isn’t much you can really do
about it.
Beliefs about Fairness
Fairness is treating people justly, not letting your personal feelings
bias your decisions about others.

You want to give everyone a fair chance, and believe there


should be equal opportunity for all, though you also realize that what
is fair for one person might not be fair for another.
Strong belief in fairness
An egalitarian is a person who believes in the equality of all people,
and an egalitarian society gives everyone equal right.

This is a word that means something close to equality and has


to do with fairness
Organizational Justice Theory
Equity ensures that people get access to opportunities fairly and
according to their needs.

Equity theory explains that people will make judgments about


equity by comparing what they input into something against its
outcomes.
Belief about Outcome
The concept is based on the subjective probability that the behavior
will produce a given outcome.

Our beliefs shape our thinking, which influence our behavior.


Expectancy Theory
It suggests that individuals are motivated to perform if they know that
their extra performance is recognized and rewarded.

Performance based pay can link rewards to the amount of


products employees produced.
Beliefs about Capabilities
Beliefs about capabilities, or self-efficacy, is a construct originating in
social cognitive psychology.

Capability beliefs have been found to be positively associated


with intention and healthcare practice behavior.
Self – efficacy Theory
It refers to an individual’s belief in his or her capability to execute
behaviors necessary to produce specific performance attainments.

Self-efficacy reflects confidence in the ability to exert control


over one’s own motivation, behavior, and social environment.
