Dear parent,

Your child’s referral was received through Early Abilities and sent to
Macaulay Child Development Centre (based on your postal code) to provide
your child’s speech and language services.

It is now time to book a speech and language assessment for your child. Given
the current pandemic due to the spread of COVID-19, Macaulay Child
Development Centre is following the advice of Toronto Public Health and is
providing service virtually. Your child’s speech and language service will be
provided through telepractice (i.e., online through your laptop, phone or
tablet using your WIFI), by phone call and/or videoconferencing. For the
videoconference, you will be using a program called Microsoft
Teams (instructions attached). Please download this program/App prior to your
appointment, so you will be ready to go for your appointment.

Please note: You must be in Ontario in order to receive our service.

Appointments are generally 60 minutes and you and your child must attend. If
you require an interpreter for you (not your child), please email me as soon as
possible.

After your appointment is booked you will receive a confirmation email with
the details of your child’s appointment. In this email you will see the contact
information for your therapist. Please take note of your therapist’s name as
she will be emailing you the Microsoft Teams link prior (a few days to a week
before) to your appointment. Our emails sometimes go to Junk Mail so
please check that as well.

If we do not hear from you within 72 hours your child’s file may be closed. You can
email/call to reactivate the service at any time prior to your child’s entrance to Junior
Kindergarten. Your priority on the waitlist will be maintained.

PLEASE NOTE: If your child is eligible to start JK in September 2022 (born in 2018)
this will be your child’s final opportunity for services with Early Abilities. You can
access speech therapy services at your child’s school by speaking to their classroom
teacher.
