○ Pictures of various items and the students will circle their
answers. (need or want)
● Ask students what they think the words “needs” and “wants” mean.
■ What do you think a need means?
■ What do you think a want means?

12:40 - 12:55 Introduction:

● Learning objectives. Have students repeat.
● Learning criteria. Have students repeat.
● Learning targets. Have students repeat.
● I will ask the students,
○ Do you know why it's important to learn about needs and
wants? Think-Pair-Share
○ Learning about needs and wants helps us make good choices,
appreciate what we have like our homes, our food, our clothes,
and be better at saving and planning for things that are
important or special to us. Sometimes, we have to choose
between getting something we need and something we want. If
we know the difference, we can make sure we have what we
need first.
Powerpoint:
● Review the concept of Needs and Wants
○ Needs: something we must have in order to survive and live.
■ I will ask students if they can think of examples of a
need.
○ Wants: things we would LIKE to have, but don’t need to
survive and live
■ I will ask students if they can think of examples of a
want.
● Go over examples of needs and examples of wants
○ I will show pictures of needs and pictures of wants. I will have
the students stand up and go to the right side of the room if
they think the picture is a need or go to the left side of the
room if they think the picture is a want.

them under needs or under wants.

● I will walk around to guide and assist students.

sorted and explain why they placed them in that category.
