SIEMENS PDM Maintenance Station V4 – Configuration Setup Nov 2021
1 Installation PDM MS V4
Install the new operating system Windows 10 from the restore stick via Restore option:
Install the PDM MS software from the delivered sticks or the PCS 7 Media Package:
Install the SIMIT VC. You find it below “Additional Products” in the folder “SIMIT VC”:
2 General Settings
Configure a suitable IP address and network mask in the windows network properties.
Recommendation:
Use LAN #02 or LAN #03 for the Plant bus (can be also a direct connection to a PROFINET network).
LAN #01 can be used for an optional connection to a Terminal bus.
Settings for the PDM MS in the Technological Hierarchy below “Advanced Diagnostic Settings…” (export paths, web
links, …) or the configuration of the PDM Server (secure / unsecure connection etc.) are the same as for the PCS 7
MS.
3 Project Setup
Either use the Example Project or create a new project.
You´ll find:
Continue with the Ethernet (IP) settings for the PLC and the PC station shown in the next chapter.
Change the name of the PC station according to your PDM MS computer name.
Insert a Charts folder into the S7 Program folder.
Only if SNMP devices (like PCs, switches and other network objects) shall be monitored in the PDM MS an
OPC Server must be inserted here and the SNMP devices have to be added and configured in the SNMP
configuration of the OPC Server.
Configure the second IP address on one of the PROFINET interfaces of the CPU:
Open NETPRO
A S7 connection is created automatically. Do not change it.
Ethernet Settings (for the PC Station): Select “Use network adapter” and any of the TCP/IP adapters
In case the related project with the field devices is a S7 or PCS 7 project:
Change the Subnet ID of the Plant Bus according to the target project (-> Subnet ID can be found in the
network properties in NETPRO or in the HW Configurator)
4.2 Import or manual creation of the PDM Data for the Devices
Follow the steps in chapter 8.3 for manual creation or chapter 8.4 for “ Import from HWC station ” in SIOS ID
109776936.
The PDM Network Structure with all field devices has been created:
If all settings incl. Subnet-IDs are ok, now the user can use the PDM MS to communicate with the field devices, e.g.
update of the diagnostics state manually from the Process Device Network View.
For the Maintenance Station Runtime the SIMIT Virtual Controller must be started and the Maintenance Station must
be activated and configured.
[*** If not already done: Download NETPRO configuration into the AS. ***]
Insert the SIMIT VC Dongle into one of the USB ports of the Microbox PC.
or
Note: A “S7 connection” is used here like for real controllers (and not the “K bus” like for PDM MS V3).
Start MS Runtime.
2.) Export PDM data in the ES project and import of this export file (export either via Process Device Network
View or via Hardware Configurator and import only via Process Device Network)
This is possible for single PLC controllers and from a node not higher than a bus system (PROFIBUS or
PROFINET) in the Network View; the bus system at least must be already inserted in the target project (with
the correct Subnet IDs)
3.) Export and import of a S7 / PCS 7 archive with PDM data (“Import from HWC station”)
A project with a PC and Ethernet bus (Plant bus) must be already inserted in the target project in the Network
View (with the correct Subnet IDs)
Single devices, modules or parts of the PDM network structure can be ignored, created or deleted:
Please be aware that a CFC editor or a HW Configurator for field devices cannot be used on a PDM MS.
The CPU cannot be used as an AS with a program (CFCs etc.) on a PDM MS. The PDM MS must always be
connected to an existing plant with PROFIBUS DP Masters or PROFINET IO Controllers!
Compiling and Downloading of the Charts folder is here also necessary, although no CFC editor can be used!
The project network structure including all sub structures and all field devices is configured always in the Process
Device Network View (in the SIMATIC Manager of the PDM MS)!
