Adjectives

We can use adjectives to describe people, places and things.

We've got a small car.


I saw a white bird.
This book isn't very old.

How to use them


We don't add s to the adjective when it's plural.

My brothers are short.


We've got three black cats.
She watched some old films.
Put size adjectives before colour adjectives.

I've got a big, blue ball.


That building is tall and grey.

Adverbs
We can use adverbs to describe how somebody does something.

I speak English well.


He plays hockey badly.
We try to do our homework correctly.

How to use them


To make adverbs, we normally add ly to the adjective. Sometimes the spelling is
different.

She ran quickly.


They sang beautifully.
The children are playing happily.
I dance terribly.

Some adverbs don't have ly.

I don't write Italian well.


My mum drives fast.
