A. REPORTS
❖ A REPORT is a systematic, articulate,
and orderly presentation of research
work in a written form.
❖ It is structured into sections.
❖ It communicates information from
research.
❖ REPORTS have 4 main forms:
o Filmed
o Televised
o Spoken or Recorded
o Written or Printed
❖ REPORTS have 4 main types.
o Technical & Business Reports
– orients or gives information
about services and business
outcomes
o Scientific Reports – presents
the findings of a scientific
experiment, proves or
disproves a hypothesis
o Field Reports – presents
findings from a field
observation, observing the
subjects in their natural habitat
o Research Reports - a well -
crafted document that outlines
the processes, data, and
findings of a systematic
investigation
B. RESEARCH REPORTS
❖ The RESEARCH REPORT is made
of the following parts:
o Introductory Phase
o Review of Related Literature
o Research Methodology
o Body of the Report
o Conclusion
❖ The TITLE of a research report
must be catchy and informative.
❖ A research report does not share
the same parts with a three-part
essay.
❖ In the METHODOLOGY, the
process and the steps taken by the
researchers to gather data are
started.
❖ The Review of Related Literature is
concepts and related studies.
❖ The tools used to gather data are
presented under the research
instruments section.
❖ The research abstract is written
after the research is finished. It
provides a preview (snap view) of
the contents of the report.
❖ The title page must contain the
necessary information regarding the
content of the paper, the author’s
names, address/affiliation, and the
date of publication.
❖ The conclusion of a research report
must contain the restatement of
major findings, limitations of the
study, recommendations, and the
implications of the results of the
research.
C. WRITING POSITION PAPERS
❖ When choosing a topic for a
position paper, a writer must ensure
that their topic is relevant.
❖ Unfamiliar terms must be defined in
a position paper.
❖ When writing a position paper, one
must research both sides, the pros
and the cons.
❖ A writer must also summarize
counterarguments and use various
factual evidence to refute them.
D. FACTORS AFFECTING THE
AUTHENTICITY AND VALIDITY OF A
FACTUAL EVIDENCE
❖ Top-level domains such as .edu,
.gov, .net, .org, are reputable
sources of online information.
❖ Sources that are not relevant to the
topic of your paper must not be
used.
❖ Diction is the choice of words used
in a paper.
