Base on the recently, 2018 signed curriculum of which the panel focused on to adjust the
examination papers despite its short comings; we felt the following changes or modifications
are necessary.
The code for the nursing courses should be “NUS” instead of “NU” as done previously. This
is to tie with the coding system used in the new curriculum.
The exam paper called “mother and child pathology” is changed to “mother and child health”
because mother and child nursing aspects are not limited to pathology.
The course infectious diseases that was previously in mother and child has been sent to the
public health paper.
All the papers that existed in the previous examination structure were maintained but for
medical law that was left out since most parts of the paper already feature in the proposed law
and citizenship education paper to be written by all options in the HND
For better understanding and to foster the use of professional words, some words that are
assume to be wrongly translated or not better placed were redefined such as approach of
nursing care/organization of care on page 9 of the curriculum to nursing process, system of
health information on page 11 of the curriculum was rephrased health information system etc
It is also being suggested that some of the courses in the curriculum should be regrouped in
terms of semesters. For example a course like pharmacology features only from year two of
which it is supposed to be from year one for the students to grasp the basis before their first
internship and certain course contents should be looked into to detail them clearly.
Other aspects agreed on in terms of the examination format is that all options for MCQ
sections shall have four options A, B, C and D
For short answer sections, the mark shall range from 2 – 5marks per question
