Is Artificial Intelligence the upcoming focus on Tech Policy?

“Artificial Intelligence is not a substitute for human intelligence; it is a tool to amplify human
creativity and ingenuity”.
- Fei Fei Li

The technological advancements in today’s society is what has led the generation far more

advanced and compact. The use of AI(also known as Artificial Intelligence) has set the bar

more advanced in making research tools and productivity a lot easier. The rapidly advanced

capabilities of AI have made ground-breaking functionalities towards a safe and ethical use of

these technologies. The argument that lies here is that whether AI is the upcoming emphasis on

Tech Policy. In 2022, the launch of ChatGPT turned the tables to a new era in democratizing

the use of Artificial Intelligence. It’s objective was to promote innovation and ensure a safe,

fair and ethical application of technology in critical areas such as Healthcare, Education,

National Security etc. and address the concerns for better governance leading to an organized

framework of AI. This Framework was based on five key areas which are: i) Innovation, ii)

Infrastructure, iii) Safety and Risk Management, iv) Privacy Protection. These areas

contributed to expand the computation infrastructure of AI Models and encourage innovation

at a greater stage. It also helped in the development of standards and ensuring that AI Models

have been properly assessed for safety and risk, maintaining a level of transparency and fairness

in the AI developing world. As a matter of fact, Artificial Intelligence have been an emerging

topic in the policy interest as most countries have started to launch their national AI strategies

in order to articulate public action in respective jurisdictions while emphasizing the need on AI

development. The Policy Aims have garnered widespread interests to ensure that AI

technologies can be applied to industrial processes as many sectors can benefit from the use of

AI solutions and enhanced predictive capacity. The responsibilities of AI Policy have started to

distribute, reflecting the arrangements of policy innovation and nurturing the future of AI in an

effective manner. It is considered of utmost importance that future policies should be able to
understand what is essentially regarded for a positive implication of the usage of Artificial

Intelligence in fostering widespread learning experience and amplify human creativity in a

different way. We may also look at how the legal implication of the Digital Personal Data

Protection Act, 2023 has helped in addressing concerns of AI and enhance its functionality. The

establishment of AI has been driven by a computational growth in bringing out greater

availability of data and an efficiency in its algorithm. During the early 2010s, machine learning

had made a transitioning progress followed by a rapid shift in AI Models, improvising the scope

of application. AI adoption for Small and Medium Sized Firms(SMEs) can generate a lot of

benefits, resulting in cost efficiency and productive gains and an increased ability to counter

complex challenges and building a decision-making capacity and increasing the innovation

opportunities. Also, the concern relating to financing can be addressed based on evidences

pertaining to the investment of AI business applications while emphasizing on this fact that the

policy makers should ensure a proper functioning of knowledge markets that can provide

solutions to implement AI Technology insights and share knowledge to scale up the capacity

of these small and medium sized firms and business enterprise to develop AI solutions and

enhance their creativity and business approach.
