Miguel Ángel López Castro

Biographical summary
He was born on March 25, 1997 in the city of Cienfuegos. At 10 years
old he began practicing volleyball, although, according to an interview
given in 2017 , he "had a lot of work" due to his small stature [1] .

Sports race
Coming from the Under 21 team - silver in the World Cup in his
category - he was suddenly promoted to the national team due to the
sexual scandal that compromised a good part of the Cuban main
team in Finland shortly before the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro .

He was a member of the Cuban squad that won the bronze medal in
the Pan American Volleyball Cup in 2017 . In June 2019 she would
repeat in the national team, this time to win the competition held in
the Mexican city of Colima [2] .

On September 10 , in the Norceca 2023 Men's Championship , which


took place in the city of Charleston , capital of the state of Virginia ,
in the United States , his team won the bronze medal by defeating
the Dominican Republic in three sets and He was included in the
honor roll as the most outstanding in the service. [3] .

Foreign Leagues
This May 10, 2022 , he completed a dream season as he swept through the second season
in the Brazilian Volleyball League with the Sada Cruzeiro club. The Cienfuegos native
sealed Sada's victory, his first in the super league, in which he won the nominations for
Most Valuable Player (MVP) and most outstanding auxiliary attacker. After the 3-0 victory
(25-20, 36-34, 25-20) in the third challenge of the grand final against another respectable
team, Fiat Gerdau Minas, López dedicated the first victory in the super league to his
mother. [4] .

On March 11 , he starred in another brilliant performance as his Sada Cruzeiro team won
the 2024 Brazilian Volleyball Cup , for the eighth time. He shone in the sweep of the light
blue squad against Vedacit Guarulhos with partials of 25-23, 25-17 and 25-18, scoring 17
points, including 13 attacks with 52% effectiveness, three serves and a block. For López it
represents the third title in this tournament, having previously won the South American club
championship crown. [5] .
