Update 18 May 2022

Following the technical issues that led to us

stopping the release planned for PLAB 1
places in February 2023, we’re continuing to
explore a range of options to make sure it
doesn’t happen again. We’re extremely sorry
for the stress and inconvenience this has
caused candidates.

Please be reassured that these places

haven’t been cancelled and there’ll be seats
available across all locations when we
reopen bookings. We’ll give candidates at
least two weeks’ notice of the new release
date and what they need to do to book. We’ll
also keep this webpage and our social
media channels updated with the latest
information.

Once candidates have passed PLAB 1, we’ll

also have availability for everyone looking to
book their PLAB 2 test.

We appreciate everyone’s patience while we

work to make improvements to our web and
booking processes. If you do need to speak
with us, please only use one channel to
contact us. If you use multiple channels or
devices, it can cause delays and take us
longer to respond.

We’re grateful to candidates from around

the world for their commitment to practising
in the UK.

PLAB 1 bookings
We’ll release PLAB 1 places for 2023, for all
locations, on four different dates in 2022.

We’re releasing places in this way to give you

more frequent opportunities to book your test, and
to allow you to plan ahead.

Before you can book, you’ll need to:

set up a GMC Online account. If you already

have an account but haven’t logged in since 31
August 2021, you’ll need to update your
account before you can use it. Read our guide
about how to update your GMC online account.

evidence by the dates set out below. You will

Tips for a smooth booking

experience
Only log in to GMC Online at the time we
release places in your preferred location.

Only use one browser tab on one device to

book. If you use multiple devices or log in from
multiple tabs, you may lock your account
which will prevent you from booking a place.

You must not use, or employ others to use, bot

technology to secure a booking. If you secure a
booking using this approach we will cancel it,
and we will lock your account

Once you have reserved your place, you should

complete your booking as soon as possible to
make sure your payment completes within the
reservation time limit. If you pay after the
reservation time, you may be charged but you
will not secure a place.

You’ll be able to see all the places available to

you in GMC Online. Please don’t contact us to
ask for a place on a specibc date or in a
specibc location. We’re unable to
accommodate individual requests.

If you have a GMC Online

account but haven’t logged in
since 31 August 2021
We made some changes to GMC Online on 31
August 2021. If you’ve not logged in since then,
you’ll need to complete the following steps:

Open Chrome, Edge, Safari, Firefox or Internet

Explorer 11.

Go to GMC Online.

Log into your existing account, by entering your

GMC reference number and password. Please
do not create a new account.

If you don’t have your password, you can

request a new one by clicking on the ‘forgot
password’ link. If you have any problems
logging in, please read our troubleshooting
guide.

You’ll be asked to enter your preferred email

address and a new password. You can use a
work or personal email address, but it must be
one that only you can access.

We’ll then send you a six-digit code to the

email address you gave us, and ask you to
validate your new account. Please check all
your mail folders, including spam or junk, if you
don’t receive the email with the six-digit code.
