give a detrimental effect on both the educational process and the climate of the school

as a whole.

The issue of student respect towards their teacher is a critical one that requires

attention and intervention from various stakeholders including teacher, educational and

institutions, policy makers and parent. This research seeks to contribute to the ongoing

Respect was the problem in this study, we tackled this study because we need to

know if the students have a good relationship between their teachers. We all know that

not of all students in Libayoy National High School have fully respect. That’s why we

relationships at Libayoy National High School.

Time and place. This study is conducted in Libayoy National High School at May to

existing concept through the survey process and interview.

Research method. This research utilized descriptive qualitative method to describe

them students’ perceptions on students respect towards their teachers. This research

method is the best way to way to improve their personalities by treating a good attitude

on each other.

Significance of the study

This study significance lies in its potential to provide valuable insights into the factors

and their strategies that teacher and educational institution can use to promote and

enhance respect in the classroom. The findings from this study can inform the

development of policies and practices that promote positive teacher-student

relationships and create more conductive learning environment additionally, the study

findings can be used to guide, the training and professional development skills and

promote positive students-teacher interaction.

School Principals. Findings of this would provide principal on how will be treated on

each other, by giving a rule, that provide a good fundamental value.

School Teachers. Teacher offer feedback to students to support their feelings of

competence teachers who know their students’ interest and preferences, and shown

regard and respect for these individual differences, bolster students’ feelings of

autonomy.

Students. The best way you can show your teacher is by listening to them and following

their instructions. Teachers. Teachers know that lesson can be long,it can be difficult to

concentrate , especially for younger students and students that have trouble learning.

Definition of Terms

In order to better understand the context and the use of this study, the following

terms were used extensively and should be taken according to the definition given

below.

Students’ perception. Is a process of preferential treatment of students toward

information they get from an object, in this study is st classroom questions. Through

observations with their senses, students can interpret the observed object.

Structure of the Thesis

This study consists of five chapters: Chapter 1. The Problem, Chapter 2.

Review of the related literature, Chapter 3. Research methodology.

Chapter 2

Review of related Literature

This chapter provides various related literature and studies gathered by the researcher

approximately connected to this study. The researcher believe that works of different

authors and educators have contributed much to give enough proofs to strength the

result and findings of this research. The related studies cited in this chapter include both

local and foreign in order to present a bigger picture of the concept treated in this study.

Respect among students for their teacher

According to the dictionary, respect is a sense of appreciation for someone or

something. A result of their accomplishments or positive traits. Determining what

respect actually entails, though, not that simple. Some claim that respect has been

viewed as a moral character, an attitude or a conduct. But at other times it is mistaken

for acceptance, toleration, or even fear, and as a sign of justice. In order to properly

account for that intricacy of the term “RESPECT”, academics started to treat it as

differentiated forms of respect may exist (Mertz, 2015). Respect for someone depends

on relationship between them.

It certainly helps the relationships if this respect is mutual. In school, students are

obligated to respect the teacher but also the teacher should give respect to the

students. As long as their mutual respect, students’ success rate will rise and their

attitude toward class and faculty will be very different.

Base to (Jones, 2022: Mokracek ,2021: Celkan,2015). That is an important point as

it should be in a teachers’ interest to see the success of the students. When the teacher

commands respect from the students through his actions, he naturally draws respect

from the student.

5
However when respect is demanded then it may not be lasting very long. In other

words, we teach them by our example. This is the method of the Acharya’s or the

previous teachers of a tradition (bas, 2014; p.55). it may be difficult at times to always

act in an exemplary way.

Respect is a form of recognition of the appreciation of the quantities and differences

of others. The interactions between teacher and student are an integral part of

classroom life and respect between teacher and student can help teachers to overcome

the challenge they face in cultivating interpersonal relationships with their studies.

Chapter 3

This chapter presents the research methodology of the study. It includes discussion

on the research design and research methods covering the research environment,

research subjects, sampling techniques, instrumentation, data gathering techniques and

statistical treatment

Research Design

This research utilized descriptive qualitative methods to describe the students respect

towards their teachers. Qualitative research method is an inquire into a social problem;

explain phenomena by gathering numerical data that are analyzed using mathematically

based methods in particular statistic (Aliaga and Glunderson, 2002).

Research Environment

This study was conducted in Libayoy National High School.

Libayoy National High School bill originated in the House of Representatives

through the effort of Hon. Antonio H. Cerilles, was signed into law by President Gloria

Macapagal Arroyo. By virtue of R.A. 9564, the school was finally legislated on April 7,

2009 bearing the official name of Libayoy National High School. The said act gave the

school full autonomy in terms of operations. The school site has total land area of 3

hectares donated by the LGU through the effort of barangay captain Hon. Eduardo A.

Camaongay together with the barangay council. At present, the school is in its fruitful

existence, although much is needed to do especially in term of physical facilities. The

school now has a total enrolment of 191 junior student and 67 senior students. The

school only offered General Academic Strand in their senior high school course. Figure

Research Instruments

8
A Likert scale survey questionnaire we used as a research instrument in the study.

Likert scale is a measure that asks individuals to check their level of agreement with

various statement about an

Students’ respect towards their teachers. ( e.g. Strongly Agree, Agree, Disagree, And

Strongly Disagree). The survey questionnaire was a close ended question that consist

of two (2) parts.

Data Gathering Techniques

The grade 11 students 19 item questionnaire to evaluate the students to know how

respect important to their teachers.

The following steps were observed in the gathering of data portion of the study.

First, permission to conduct a study in the research is the principal and administer the

questionnaire in this school. Since we all know that not all students in Libayoy National

High School have fully respect their teachers that’s why we need to know by giving a

data gathering.

Statistical Treatment

After the collection of the launched questionnaire, the result was subject for

tallying, encoding by the researcher. Weight mean utilized as statistical tool to

determine the students’ respect towards their teachers as perceived by the students of

Libayoy National School.

Ethical Considerations in Research

The following are the major ethical issues considered in conducting research.

They are equally crucial that researcher should know, understand and consider them,

they are but not limited to;

Informed consent is the major ethical issue in conducting research. It means that

a person knowingly, voluntarily and intelligently, and in a clear and manifest way, gives

9
his consent. Informed consent is one of the means by which a patient’s right to

autonomy is protected.

Beneficence “the principle of beneficence included the professional mandate to

do effective and significant research so as to better serve and promote the welfare of

our respondents”.

Respect for anonymity and confidentially – the issue of confidence and anonymity

is closely connected with the rights of beneficence, respect for the dignity and fidelity.

Anonymity is protected when the subject’s identity cannot be liked with personal

response. If the researcher is not able to promise anonymity he has to address

confidentiality, which is the management of private information by the researcher in

order to protect the subject’s identity. Confidentiality means that individuals are free to

give and withhold as much information as they wish to the person they choose. The

researcher is responsible to “maintain confidentiality that goes beyond ordinarily

loyalty”.

Respect for privacy-privacy is the freedom an individual has to determine the

time extent and general concomitances circumstances under which private information

will be shared with or withheld from other”. Invasion of privacy happens when private

information such as beliefs attitudes, opinions and records, is shared with others,

without the persons’ knowledge or consent. All aims, instruments and methodology

must be discussed with the prospective subject and the research workers prior to the

investigation. Whenever subjects refuse to report personal information as they regard it

an invasion of privacy, the researcher ought to respect their views.
