CHAPTER 1

PROBLEM AND IT’S SCOPE

The impact of classroom management on
student’s behavior
RATIonale
• Classroom is the place where students can learn and at the same time misunderstood each other. A
classroom management should be essentially implemented in the class. Classroom management is group
of strategies that teachers use to enhance and improve students’ performance to their highest levels.
Teachers should anticipate what skills and routines help make classroom life academically productive and
satisfying. By modeling and reinforcing positive behaviors and environment’ teachers can facilitate
learning and minimize disruptions and distractions. Its daunting but all too common sight for many
teachers. A classroom full of noisy students who are unable to focus on the lesson. Classroom
management techniques may get things back on track but valuable time has already been lost. Many
experienced teachers know that making meaningful connections with student’s one of the most effective
ways to prevent disruptions in the first place, in classroom where teachers used a series of techniques
centered around establishing, maintaining, and restoring relationships, academic engagement .
• Classroom management has an impact on student behavior. It could be positive or
negative impact because in this generation there are many students who don’t cope
well with authority and often to either feel free or to feel like they can control
what’s happening with their life. If a teacher has classroom management, student
will able to grow up to be more disciplined, well-mannered and they will cooperate
with a team more and will cope better with constructive criticism. In the other hand
they would also feel like won’t have their own choice and can’t decide for
themselves. At this stage in the research the impact of classroom management on
student’s behavior will be generally defined as positive or negative impact.
• This study aims to determine the impact of classroom management on student’s
behavior in Carcar Central National High School in the school year 2019-2020. We
need to conduct this study to determine the impact of classroom management on
student’s behavior. Furthermore, classroom management is indeed necessary in
classroom to avoid misunderstanding in the vicinity. This study is important as it
will investigate the impact of classroom management on student’s behavior. With
this, students and teachers can get of benefits including enhancement of their
learning.
Theoretical Background
• This study is anchored on the theory of behaviorism, referring to them as “Behavioral Intervention Plan”
It promotes the ideas of rewarding students in exchange for expected behavioral outcomes. However, this
theory can be used both for positive and negative reinforcements. While academic awards represent a type
of positive reinforcement, teacher using rules and guideline with consequences are ultimately involved in
the practice of negative reinforcement. (B.F. Skinner;2012)

• According to Lee Canter (2019) student positive behaviors should be recognized and encouraged. As per
this theory, teachers should inform students about expectations they have as well a rule they have set. One
they inform students; they will closely monitor who follow these guidelines. According to this theory,
teacher should be entrusted with the right to teach without any intervention while students should learn
without any interruption (Lee Canter;2019)

• Although all classroom management theories have some pros and cons, they all light on some good to
follow classroom management practices which can make the learning environment more -positive and the
teaching learning process more rewarding. Teaching can follow any of these practices or even combine
some practices in order to create a holistic learning environment in the classroom, thereby in solving
students’ academic development.
STATEMENT OF THE
PROBLEM
• This study aims to determine the impact of classroom management on student's
behavior at seeks to answer the following questions;

1. What is the classroom management style employed by the teacher?

2. What is the extent of classroom management employed to the learners?
3. What are the common behavior of the learners?
4. What are the challenges encountered by the teacher in employing classroom management
to the diverse behavior of learners?
5. Based on the findings, what classroom management can be proposed?
DEFINITION OF TERMS
• The terms used in the study are here defined operationally and technically utilized
them.

• Classroom management- is a group of strategies that teachers use to help students

perform at their highest levels, a wide variety of skills and techniques that teachers
use to keep students organized, orderly, focused, attentive, on task and academically
productive during a class.

• Students behavior- is a characteristic that is shown by students according to their

environment, is stimulus driven responses that occur specifically within the
classroom or how students are acting in the classroom in response to what is going
on or present around them.
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
• This study focuses on the impact of classroom management rendered by the
teachers in Carcar Central National Highschool and to the behaviors of the
students. In addition to this, it gives significance to the students who will learn
about the teacher’s discussion. Students will be more encouraged in learning and
listening to the teacher during discussion. While teachers will be heartened to
teach their students because of the harmonious crowd in the classroom. The school
administrators will have the idea to handle tough students without tampering their
dignity and freedom. Meanwhile this study informs the parents that classroom
management is a great factor to student’s learning hence discipline as part of
classroom management is essential in classroom instruction. Another point to
consider, this study gives additional knowledge to the future researcher for further
study about the impact of classroom management to students so that this will give
an opportunity to look at it as factor in dealing with student’s behavior.
ETHICAL CONSIDERATION
• In doing research, the most priority is the research participant in whom the researchers taking care of.
Throughout the study, the researchers are guided with ethical guidelines to attain a successful research.

INFORMED CONSENT
• Upon conducting the research, the respondents had agreed and fully participated. The researchers
ensured to respect the confidentially of information and the anonymity of the respondents names as
they voluntarily participate in the study and disclosed their personal experience.

RISK

• With all due respect, it is the researcher’s full responsibility to protect the right and hide the
respondent’s privacy. As they also consider their personal status, protection and concern is our primary
objective in gathering data.
Vulnerability of the respondents

• Getting information that is useful to the study is hard as a researcher, as the

researchers need to protect the respondents undue influence considering that they
are in minor ages and still in the field of secondary level.

COMPENSATION

• The researchers ensured the quality and integrity of the research. That they are
objectively participated with due care to conduct research and to gather relevant
details relatively associated.
CHAPTER 2
RRS and RRL
According to Cohen,2011; Lampert, 2001; Pianta &
Hamre, 2009 Consistent with these findings, decade’s
worth of theory also has also have characterized
teaching as multidimensional. High-quality teachers are
thought and expected not only to raise test scores but
also to provide emotionally supportive environments
that contribute to students’ social and emotional
development, manage classroom behaviors, deliver
accurate content, and support critical thinking.
According to Utley, Greenwood, & Douglas,
2010 The findings in the study reflect that
student on task performance increased for the
target population, and the occurrence of
disruptive behaviors decreased. Results also
indicated that the level of teacher praise for
those students increased by ten percent,
which may had an impact on improving
student performance.
CHAPTER 3
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
Research Design
This study will utilize a qualitative methodology. It will use a
descriptive research design which employed the use of survey
questionnaire. The questionnaire was designed in order to accumulate
enough information pertaining to the sub-problem. Accurate findings
will put up the researchers to discover the Impact of classroom
management on student’s behavior. Through the collection of
information, school-based campaign intervention on student’s behavior
used and ways of coping up with its effects will be proposed. Descripted
research design comprises of data to be answered from the study, The
Impact of classroom management on student’s behavior to junior high
school students of Carcar Central National Highschool.
Research Environment
Carcar Central National High School is located at
Carcar City Cebu. This municipality has recorded 15
barangays and one of which is the location of Carcar Central
National High school.
The research included Junior High school students of
Carcar Central National Highschool. Carcar, City Cebu. Carcar
Central National high school is a public school with 1,235
junior high school students enrolled on the school year 2019-
2020. Faculty and staff with 86 overall population.
Research Instruments

Researchers will use paper, pen and

questionnaire to conduct the interview in
order to gather data. Respondents will answer
the researcher’s questionnaire.
Research Respondents

Selected Junior high school students will be

the respondents of the research that we will
conduct.
Research Procedure

Researchers will ask permission to the school

administrators to conduct a study. Researchers
will also ask permission to the respondents
that they will be part of the study.
