1. This paper consists of section A, B and C with a total of eight (8) questions
2. Answer all questions in section A, B and one (1) question in section C
3. Any unauthorized materials are not allowed in the examination room only scientific
calculators and mathematical tables are allowed
4. Write your examination number on every page of your answer sheets
5. The following constants may be used

Answer all questions in this section

3. (a) You are provided with the following compounds choose from them to answer the
questions: BaSO4, CaCO3, NH4Cl, K3PO4, Na2S2O4
i. Reacts with dilute nitric acid to form a gas that turns lime water milky
ii. Reacts with warm sodium hydroxide to form a gas which turn damp red
litmus paper blue
iii. Reacts with dilute hydrochloric acid to give a gas that turns acidified
potassium dichromate (VI) solution from orange to green
iv. It is prepared using precipitation reaction
v. It contains an anion with a charge of -3
(b) Calculate the volume in dm3 of 19.2g of nitrogen at S.T.P. (give your answer in two
significant figure)
