Theoretical Framework

For the theoretical framework, the researchers used two theories, namely, the….

Material Value Theory

In Material Value Theory of Marsha Richins and Scott Dawson (1992), which identifies materialism as a pursuit of
happiness through possession and acquisition of material that become central to an individual and result in the
greatest source of satisfaction and dissatisfaction.

Self-Determination Theory
The researchers also utilized the Self-Determination Theory of Edward Deci and Richard Ryan (2000), which
notes that an individual whose behavior is driven by materialistic values can be considered extrinsically motivated,
which results in low SWB.

Conceptual Framework
As you have noticed the researchers revised the figure for the conceptual framework, from two boxes of
materialism pointing to its dependent variables, the researchers decided to simplify it and utilized one box.

First box indicates the independent variable labelled as materialism while on the other hand, there are two boxes
labeled as authentic happiness and subjective well-being as dependent variables. The arrow denotes correlation
between the independent and dependent variable since this study aims to thoroughly determine the correlation
between materialism to authentic happiness and subjective well-being among Psychology students.

And for the…

Significance of the Study

In general, this study holds significance for… (PPT)

For the summary of this study…

Summary
The majority of the participants have been categorized as having a moderate level materialism, authentic
happiness and subjective well-being, essentially inferring positive relationship based on the above-mentioned
findings and discussions.

Then, the results rationally state that the study has produced a STRONG POSITIVE CORRELATION of
Materialism to the authentic happiness and subjective well-being of psychology major students.

Moreover, as a conclusion…

Conclusion

The study also concluded that there was a strong positive correlation between the three variables, which means
that if a person has a high level of materialism, then the level of his or her authentic happiness and subjective
well-being will also increase. With these, it only suggests that the literature and studies gathered in Chapter 2
have been all debunked by this local research about materialism.

In that case, we can finally say that the null hypotheses in this study were rejected.
