Applications are invited from eligible candidates for admission to Ph.D Programme offered by
various departments of the university for the academic year 2023-24. The subjects are Kannada,
English, Economics, History & Archaeology, Social Work, Sociology, |ournalism, Commerce,
Chemistry, Biochemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Library & Information Science, Biotechnology,
Zoology, Microbiology, Botany, Environmental Science & Electronics.
Online application along with prescribed fee and requisite documents shall be submitted on or
before 24.03.2024. The details are provided at www.tumkuruniversity.ac.in. The candidates shall submit
hardcopy of the application to the Chairman/ Co-ordinator of the concerned departments along with
mandatory enclosures on or before 30.03.2024. The application fee of Rs.1,650/- for GM and OBC
candidates and Rs. 825/-, for SC/ST/Cat-l candidates with income limit of 2.5lakhs shall be paid Online
ISBI Collect) to "The Finance Officer, Tumkur University, Tumakuru", and a copy of the same shall be
enclosed along with the application.
Candidates who have qualified in respective Master's degrees have to appear for the Entrance
Test and those candidates who have qualified for UGC-NET/KSET/ CSIR- IRF /GATE Examinations are
exempted from the Entrance Test, However, all such candidates have to appear for an interview along
with the candidates who have qualified through the Entrance Test. Admissions shall be made as per
the Ph,D. regulations governing the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy- 20L7 and its 1"t Amendment.
Note:
7. The Entrance Test will consist of one paper for 100 marks. lt includes multiple choice
questions -including 40 Marks on Research Methodology and 60 marks on concerned subject.
The duration of the Test will be for 3 hours.
2. A candidate securing a minimum of 50 marks out of 100 (45 marks out of 100 in case of
SC/ST/CaI-1 candidates) in the Entrance Test shall be eligible for admission to the Ph.D,
programme,
3. There shall be 30% weightage for the performance of the candidate in the interview and 700lo
weightage for entrance test marks for entrance test qualified candidates.
4. In the case of candidates who have passed UGC-CSIR/DBT/ICAR/JRF/SRF /GATE/ KSET the
merit list will be prepared on the basis of 50% of marks secured in the interview and 50%
marks in Master's Degree Examination. ln case of candidates securing equal percentage of
marks from both Master's Degree Examination and marks secured in the Interview, such
candidates who have secured higher percentage in the Bachelor's Degree Examination will be
placed higher in ranking.
5. The candidates eligible for exemption from the Entrance Test will be informed separately
regarding the date, time and venue of the interview which will also be notified in University
website.
6. The successful completion of Entrance Test and appearance for the interview will only imply
the eligibility of a candidate for admission to Ph.D, at the University, but shall not guarantee to
Ph,D. degree programme.
7. Seats are not reserved separately for UGC-CSIR/DBT/ICAR/JRF/SRF /GATE/ KSET and
Enffance Test qualified candidates.
