Pre-assessment of current knowledge:
I will pre-assess the students’ knowledge of main idea and cultural aspects of a read aloud by having the students fill in a worksheet where they will draw the
sequence of events that happened in the story. This would allow me to see if the students understood what was happening in the story as well as if they would be
able to apply the story to our following activity.

Each child will get a different role in the story so each child illustrations
will play a vital part of the play. Students will also be able to 6. After we watch the video, we will all come together
implement their own ideas for the play through class and create a list of objects, people, and animals

Day 3
8. After we created the list I will tell the students that we
will be creating a play for this story where each
student will get to play a vital role in the performance
9. I will then give each student a role in the play based
on the list we created in the previous day
10. I will then have student put into small groups based
on their role to create a chart of various sounds and
behaviors their role will need
11. I will give students time to do so and also walk
around the room for possible assistance
Day 4
12. I will then have the entire class come back together
to start making the script, by using the students’
ideas while guiding them towards the right direction
Day 5
13. I will re-read the story to the class to ensure that our
script matches the storyline and to spark any more
possible ideas the students may have
14. Give each students a copy of the script so they will
be able to use it for practice and during the
performance.
15. We will practice the play several time to ensure that
the students are well prepared
Day 6
16. Then I will have the students’ parents come and
watch our play and we preform!
