Reflection Essay 2

In this academic research, I participated in, I learned many different things as I wrote the

annotated bibliography and the literature essay. First off, the first thing I learned was that dance

can be very beneficial as a stress and anxiety relieving factor. Which can be very good when I

am stressed out in other classes I can dance to relieve stress or presentation anxiety. Lastly, dance

can be very beneficial to those who have medical illnesses. Which can be applied to the future

medical courses I hope to take.

During the process of writing the annotated bibliography, I learned a few things. In the

bibliography, I learned that bibliographies are more than what they seem. First off, everyone

knows that annotated bibliographies give valuable information to those who are curious. On the

contrary, bibliographies are also helpful to scholars and students like me in our research projects

for class or the public. Secondly, I also learned how to find the main idea and how to find if the

bibliographies contrasted one another. Knowing which bibliography connected or contrasted

other bibliographies helped me with my literature review essay.

The creation of a literature review essay helped me in my research essay and helped me

in my writing by giving me an idea of how literature review essays should look for my future

classes. It also helped me learn how to approach a literature review in the form of an essay or a

research paper in the future by knowing what I am looking for and how to look for what I need in

my literature review essay. It will also help me in writing tasks in the future by knowing how to

write a literature essay for future classes, and my future job if needed. If possible, I would use it

in future research I may participate in

Reviewing feedback from my instructor helped me improve my grammar and citation

mistakes. First off, the first thing my instructor noticed was some grammar mistakes here and

there throughout the essay. Including some sentence structure which I could easily find and fix

thanks to my instructor. Lastly, I had some citing mistakes like Ou, Kai-Ling, et al. The

instructor spotted this mistake throughout my essay with other researchers I used. My instructor

instructed me to fix this by saying, “When putting "name et al." only put the last name of the first

author followed by et al.”. With this, I was able to fix my mistakes and cite them correctly

throughout my essay.

The peer review with my classmate did not help as much as I hoped. Since they

contradicted what they said a lot it made me confused about what to focus on. For example, at

first, they said my essay had too many quotes then on another question it said my essay had too

few quotes. Nor did they elaborate on which place on my essay had supposedly “little or too

many quotes”. So, I could not make any corrections on the topic of too many or too few quotes.

The only helpful thing I was able to get out of the peer review was “I think at the end of the

paragraphs it could help to add more explanation […] “Though they both had different stress

reliever ideas they both came to the same conclusion that dance helps relieve stress and anxiety

for women” there could be a little more explanation to keep the reader interested”. The only

thing my peer was able to say was where I needed to work. I did not change anything since I

thought the conclusion was straight to the point of what I wanted the reader to know instead of

performing to keep them entertained enough to read my essay.

The most challenging part of this writing assignment was trying to find my way around

how to structure the Literature Essay. It was hard for me since I was very overwhelmed with

seeing how professional the essay seemed too informative and information was all over the

place. to read all the annotated bibliographies all over again. Since I forget a lot of things

rereading was the only way I could speak more about it. The least challenging part was which

bibliography connected with which bibliography. Like the dance-annotated bibliographies on

pulmonary diseases, they both connected and gave the same result on how dance effectively

helped those who have pulmonary diseases.
