You work as a Junior Consultant at Total Travel. Below are five customer enquiries which you must address. For
each customer, you will be responsible for calculating the costs and providing a quotation. Instructions for each
customer are provided following their details.
Customer 1
Mr. Peter Connors calls requesting the following written quote, departing 6 months from today:
Flights: 2 Tickets BNE – SYD flying Qantas on the 15th for Mr.
Peter Connors and his wife Prudence. The Connor’s
would prefer the first available flight departure.
1. Research the holiday for the customers. The choice of car hire company, accommodation, insurance and tour
operators are totally up to you, but you must supply documents to verify your costs. You must book all the
components (except insurance) with a tour wholesaler such as New South Wales Holidays.
2. Airline tickets are to be booked with Qantas. You will need to check flight details online and print out
documents to verify your costs.
3. You are receiving 10% commission from all suppliers except Qantas (5%) and insurance (40%). Commission is
deducted from the gross amount provided by suppliers.
4. Create a costing sheet for your quotation including gross, commission and net costs. Include your percentage
yield and booking terms and conditions.
5. Prepare a detailed quotation for your customer on company letterhead including terms and conditions and
limitations.
6. Do a final check of your quotation, checking each product calculation against your internet brochures and
printouts. Provide a total of all your internet printouts and ensure these equal your quotation total.
7. Mr. Connors calls 3 days later and has received your quote. He would like an alternative quote on a large size
automatic vehicle.
9. Create a secondary quote with the new car hire including terms and conditions and limitations.
10. Mr. Connors calls again and advises he thinks he may be able to find a cheaper price for the hotel online. You
will need to try and negotiate and source the best rate for this hotel. Source two other tour wholesalers that
sell the hotel and compare rates. Include the two hotel cost printouts in your assessment.
11. Mr. Connors also requests more information on the hotel you have chosen. Send a letter to Mr. Connors
explaining why you chose that hotel, outlining the features and benefits.
13. Attach copies of all your internet print outs and brochures to support your quotation.
Customer 2
Ms. Sarah Jones calls requesting the following written quote, departing 9 months from today. She is organising a
business trip for herself and 4 colleagues to Hong Kong:

chosen. Send a letter to Ms. Sarah Jones explaining why you chose that hotel with its conference facilities,
outlining the features and benefits (include references to meeting and event equipment available).

Customer 3
Mr. Craig Roberts calls to book a cruise leaving from Cairns for him and his wife Lucy. He would like it to be
between 7 and 12 days in length and visit an island destination in 6 months time.

totally up to you, but you must supply documents to verify your costs.
2. You are receiving 15% commission from all suppliers. Commission is deducted from the gross amount
provided by suppliers.

yield and booking terms and conditions.
4. Prepare a detailed quotation for your customer on company letterhead including terms and conditions and
limitations.
