 People of Identity

1. Moses – a prophet who saved Israelite people from slavery in Egypt. He is known for receiving the
Ten Commandments in Mt. Sinai.

2. Menes – a pharaoh from the early dynastic period of ancient Egypt. He is the one who united the
upper and lower stream of Nile river which then became the first dynasty in Egypt.

3. Akhenaton – a pharaoh who abolished the polytheism in Egypt, the old religious belief of Egyptians
that worships several gods. He introduced Atenism or the worshiping of light or the sun god.

4. Hatshepsut – the first ruling female of Kemet whom ruled for more than 20 years. She is the sixth
pharaoh of the 18th dynasty and has remarkable success in trading expeditions.

5. Nebuchadnezzar – the longest raining king of Babylonia. He had his thrown for 43 years and during
those years, he established his name as the greatest military leader who destroyed Jerusalem.

6. Cyrus the Great – a Persian king who ruled the largest empire during his time. He was described as
an efficient administrator who merged Medes and Persians, the two original Iranian Tribes.

7. Zoroaster – also known as Zarathustra. He was the spiritual founder of Zoroastrianism and the first to
introduce the concept of monotheism. He reformed the pre-Islamic religion practiced in his community
anc changed the Persian’s polytheistic beliefs.

8. Sargon the Great – the first ruler of the Akkadian empire. He established notable developments in
Mesopotamia including its military tradition, a form of writing system and a bureaucracy.

9. Assurbanipal – he is remembered as the last great king of Assyria. He is famous for his vast library in
Nineveh named “The Royal Library of Assurbanipal”. Aside from his pursuit of knowledge, he is also
known as one of the cruelest kings.
